I was thumbing a lift from college and an aul farmer stopped to give me a lift in one of them, I swear to God they're the roughest yoke I ever travelled in, I was shook to bits and nearly deaf from the rattles and squeaks, there was more draughts than a student bedsit, I was never as glad to get out of a vehicle in my life(the previous nights pints didn't help the situation either)

Rocked around in a few of them in outback Queensland, you'd be glad of those draughts on 40 odd degree days :) I actually thought they're a little better than series landrovers tbh, not much though, they're beautifully agricultural.

I heard the Land Rover defender is somewhat similar all be it a newer model. They look cool but that's about it.

Not so nice hungover on a freezing wet and dark December day, but I was still glad of the spin and he was a sound bloke, my obvious townie discomfort made him smile:rolleyes: It was a damn site better than standing in Ferrybank in the rapidly fading winter light, that's for sure.

I saw that car before near Kinsealy but never got a pic... Looks to be the same one driving it in your pics too! :D

Ah that's class to see, same model 205 I learned to drive in :)

Spotted a 91 red Polo in the city and a really old unusual maybe early 90s grey and black Citreon. Neither in great shape but seemed to be driving well. No pics due to being in fast moving traffic.

Of course its worth remembering that the first of the coil sprung defenders came out in 1983, so could quite legitimately have a zv plate on them.
How many have still the factory original bulkhead or chassis is another question!
Fifteen years was the lifespan of the original chassis unless waxoyled from new and annually cleaned and touched up.

I got very excited about this :o Much nicer than mine; head light washers, fogs, velour interior, head rests front and back, colour coding etc etc. Does anyone know if this might have a digital dash?

I think they got rid of the digital dash as it was unreliable. Probably analogue since '91.

Why didn't ya have a peek inside:cool: Without alloys I wouldn't think it would have the digital dash.

I already looked dodgy enough before I went looking inside a locked car :pac:

It's got some real nice extras that mine lacks. Was the 1.6 common? I'd have thought most were lowly 1.4 S like my own

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,585 ✭✭✭jca

The 1.6 seemed to be more plentiful in the Tempa than the Tipo, it was supposed to be a great engine and was lighter on juice than the 1.4. The '92 1.4 I had came with all the extras, alloys, fogs, washers, etc I'd say mine was loaded with the extras to make way for the fuel injected model.

I suppose being a 1995 car the above was one of the last - so perhaps loaded with extras to shift on before the Bravo/a arrived

Was just going to say that year was end of the line nearly for the tipo so they would of been alot of oddball trim levels.

It's something I used to live doing years ago was hunting in scrap yards for parts of cars that would transform my own. Had a 93 320i that I basically had fitted put with leather interior from a 99 model apart from the steering wheel with airbag and the air conditioning.

Saw a red 1990 Citroën BX in Athlone yesterday, it looked to be in good condition and was parked and sitting down low on its hydropneumatic suspension.

    Cool in its own way.

Surprisingly hard to get parts for. When i had the minor i could get anything needed, but I'm even finding it hard to get a carb kit for this. New belts and water pump this week.
