Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Budget: €450 max

Intended use: Internet, cds, MP3's Microsoft Office

Mobility: Not important as will be stationary most of the time. Bigger is better as screen goes as its for my father in law.

Warranty: 1 year would be great.

What Operating System do you use? Windowsn grand. I have a 2 Laptops 1 with XP and 1 with 7 and they both work great.

    Any help greatly appreciated.

For that price point your only choice is Windows and new laptops today ship with Windows 8 (8.1 is downloadable as upgrade).

Note Windows 8 is designed to work best with touchscreens but still works with mouse etc. Also it is possible to still access the 'Desktop' (looks/works like Win7)

You mention requirement support (play) CDs so you will need a machine with a DVD player built in (fewer and fewer laptops come with DVD/CD players) or you could by a seperate DVD/CD play and connect to laptop using USB cable.

You're probably best to visit to PC World and see their range of budget touch screen laptops. Get the sales assistant to demo with you.

You can view some of their range here..
