    Great win tonight

Irish 10's passing was horribly laboured. She couldn't flick a pass left to right at all. Turned her whole body and it killed the tempo and cut the space.

Clearing kicks went maybe 30 yards. That's too short.

Nicole Fowley. Yeah, she didn't have a great game.

Conditions notwithstanding, I thought that was an exceptionally poor game. Ireland lacked an sort of incision. Half backs were poor. (9 a little more consistent than 10). Claffey was very good in traffic but Naoupu was quiet. Miller took the try well. Fullback and other winger had no impact really.

In the forwards the scrum is going well. Lineout improved. However, we're missing ball carriers. Lyons was in and out of the game. Big early carry but then not much else for a large period. Is Peat injured? Badly missed, regardless. Molloy excellent as was Caplice. Didn't see much of note from the skipper.

General play is a worry. Doesn't seem to be much of a pattern or shape to it. Someone generally hits it up after a pass or 2. Skill levels are a worry. Passing is not slick and out in front from our backs. Generally hits the inside shoulder or worse, the deck.

There seems to be a gulf between the likes of Eng/Fra and us (as best of the rest). Can only see that widening with England going pro.

No AIL this weekend but its back next week which is strange. Surely would be better to have game this weekend and not next week even if internationals wouldnt be around this weekend either

    Galwegians v Old Belvedere
    Blackrock v Railway
    Bohs v Cooke

Saw this on the Leinster Women's Rugby Facebook page yesterday

The IRFU is delighted to announce that they are continuing the bus subsidy (up to €400) offer for clubs travelling to the Ireland Women’s 6 Nation’s match versus France Women in Energia Park, Donnybrook, on Saturday 9th March. **Clubs must be situated at least 40km from Energia Park.

There is also a 2 for 1 ticket offer available for the game. We are encouraging all clubs to get out and support our girls in green as we look to get a record crowd into Energia Park for the final home 6 Nation fixture, against last year’s winners France, and to show your support to the #20x20, #CantSeeCantBe campaign.
20x20: encouraging clubs to show their support
For any questions please contact womensrugby@irfu.ie
Tickets can be booked on https://www.ticketmaster.ie/6-nations-20…/…/180056279E641DE0. Up to 8 tickets can be purchased online. For groups larger than this, please call 01-6486029. **Terms and conditions apply.

Good start to this one 10-5 to Italy but a try a piece already after 11 minutes.

Edit: Another try to Italy :( They look a very good side

Went to do few things and only have seen second half. Italy playing very well. Good score to go into lead.
Italians look like going close to matching best performance in a championship if they can keep playing like this tonight and remaining games

Was that her first start for Ireland? I think Caplice has been a very good addition also recently.

Unlucky result in the finish but Italy outplayed us in the second half to be fair.

Loss aside, this was one very entertaining game of football. Both teams chased it and weren't afraid to run and pass and go for the game. As rugby goes it's a lot purer than some of the men's game; certainly it's a lot closer to the Corinthian roots of the game.

I quite like watching women's rugby precisely because it's that little bit slower and less physical yet the skills and tactics are still elite.

For someone like me who has never played rugby, I find it much easier to pick up on techniques, attacking shape etc. in a women's game. I learn a lot more.

Ireland recharged after the red card - good try - could get another here and it would add a lot of respectability to the score.
