    Hi

I am a Leaving Cert student seriously considering radiography...... just wondering what the course is like in UCD?? How many weeks are the students in UCD on placement per year in first year? Does the time in the clinical setting increase each year? Is the course hard?
I know someone who did it in the UK and she said I should go there as the course is more practical and they spent more time on placement. Is this true? She says in the UK radiographers can report on images like consultants if they specialise and she says Ireland is really behind when it comes to this..... Is this true as she did her degree 3-4 years ago??
Also what are the employment prospects like and how easy is it to specialise as I did a week of work experience and I really liked the look of ultrasound and maybe going into this after... would this be hard to do?
Also are there jobs after in Ireland or would you have to emigrate???!!! Any info GREATLY appreciated.
    Helen:D

Im in secondy year now in it. You do 4 weeks placement during first year but this is during christmas and easter holidays which is annoying. Job prospects are excellent, every student has at least two job offers when they graduate. Versus the uk courses, we dont do as much practical but we are more likely to get higher up jobs in the field as our knowledge is vary wide

Ooh thanks Mr Fun for the info!!
Are you enjoying the course?? Is it very academic?
How hard is the physics as I told there is a lot of it?
Do employers prefer Uk graduates because of their practical skills or do they prefer Irish for their knowledge?
Do Irish graduates get better starting jobs because of their better knowledge like would they start at a better job than a UK graduate?
Do you get a base hospital or do you rotate??
