Hi everyone we are due to get our lovely little king charles puppy in 2 weeks time and we want to crate train him and want him to have his own little personal space so have been looking eveywhere online and have come across this:

So im thinking this is my best choice we will want to only close him in at certain times like the first week or two at night so he will know this is his place does anybody think this would work?

Any tips on house training puppy would be great thanks

Also you'll probably end up needing to restrict him at night for longer than 2 weeks while you're house training him to speed things up.

That gate is terribly expensive, and probably not as useful as a puppy playpen, which can be formed into lots of different shapes, and has a little door in one of the panels:

I prefer the puppy pens especially when they are small breeds. I found out the hard way that little paws & jaws can easily get stuck in the crate bars where they join the bottom of the crate.

I have 3 different sized puppy pens here.

Yes... I've had one or two close calls over the years too with the same thing, a pup could easily break a leg in that gap.
Playpens are brill, I much prefer them to crates.

OP I used one of these stove/fire guards with one of my puppies - because it wasnt securely held together/ in place, it used to fall over - my poor dog is terrified of it now - Ive adapted it now to use it as a gate to keep the dogs in one room at night - he still hates the 'noise' of it being taken out - a puppy pen is much the better option

Do you secure the pen or is it heavy - I think my pup would knock one down?

Thanks everyone will be looking into the smaller puppy playpen def way lot cheaper just want something that secure for him.
