edit - reading the NYT, it says he was benched for the entire 4Q. That's even worse.:(

Why would Brooks do that. One more 3 and 1 layup. KD would have 31. Just 2 more shots.

Would have to think that Pacers are looking at Bynum as another possible player who matches up well against Miami in the playoffs. It's a stupid move though, he's rotten to the core in terms of attitude.

I reckon Brooks is so clueless he did not know KD was on for a consecutive scoring record.
If OKC win a title with Brooks as head coach it will be inspite of him being there.
    Terrible coach IMO

I have faith in Larry Bird and Kevin Pritchard to do what's best for the Indiana Pacers. The Pacers know what they are doing. This is not a decision they made over night. They would have a plan in place for Bynum.

What their plans would be for Bynum? I'm not sure. It could be for any number of reasons. It could be a tactical move in the season that we haven't thought of yet.

    Only time will tell.

Let's be honest here. The Pacers don't need Bynum to play a single minute on the court. But their are other reason's other than the game of basketball why the pacers might want to aquire Bynum.

The Pacers management are not stupid. We don't know that their plan is for Bynum. But one thing's for sure. They do have a plan.

They might have a plan but to even try and get him is such an odd move for the Pacers. The Pacers are a real contender this season and to even risk breaking that chemistry to bring Bynum and his attitude is such a stupid idea.

It's the first time Bynum is not expected to be a starer or even a regular rotational substitute. He's starting from the bottom. We don't need anything from him but If we can put another big body under the rim down the stretch, He could be very usefull

    Finito.
    @Pacers
BREAKING: Pacers have signed free agent center Andrew Bynum to a contract for the remainder of the season.

Larry Bird on Bynum: “We are obviously happy to have him join our team... With the minutes he gets, he should be a valuable addition.”

Still think it's an odd move on the Pacers part. With Bynum now going to be getting minutes in, it'll be interesting to see how he's gonna fit into that team and how he'll affect their chemistry

Just me that likes the Bynum signing? Although to be fair I was one of the only ones praising the Cavs for taking a chance on him and look how that turned out!

If there's a chance he can get back to the Bynum that was the second best center by a country mile only behind Howard a few years ago then it's worth the relatively small fee to find out.

Putting him into a winning team that has a shot at the title may be enough to keep him focused.

If he gets his act together it's good riddance to Miami for this year.

There is not much more that can be really be said at this point. We will just have to watch and see how this plays out. But for now I support the decision made by the Pacers organisation

I welcome Andrew Bynum to the Indiana Pacers. Wish him the best.

One possibility is that the Pacers have signed him so a team like Miami or OKC wouldn't take a chance on him and then he ended up playing great against them. As in they don't know what he will be able to offer, but if he did end up getting in shape and being very good that he wouldn't come back to bite them in the arse if he ended up signing with the Heat and playing very well against Hibbert in the Conference finals.

Also the fact that Mahinmi is averaging only 3.9 rebounds a game will have factored into the Pacers decision. He often struggles and if that happens then they would have to go small against Miami when Hibbert inevitably gets into foul trouble. With Bynum, they can stay big which gives Miami fits.

If Bynum keeps his head screwed on he has a legitimate shot at a title. If he does, the Pacers are better placed to win a title. It's a win-win move for both provided Bynum is up for it.

The Pacers can look to move Mahinmi on then too which would free up a nice bit of money to throw at keeping Stephenson.

It's a risky move no doubt but it's the type of move that might just get Indiana over the line if it pays off. If it goes wrong, well I'm not sure he would be able to disrupt a team that looks so focused and determined. I think everyone in that team has one goal in mind and if Bynum acts the bollocks he won't be there for too long.

    It's worth it IMO.

Makes it all the more baffling that they gave Plumlee so little gametime last year and then moved him on.
It's like they thought mahinmi is so good we can afford to not play this guy.

Now they have to try this risky move to arrest the second quarter slumps.

Yeah they really slipped up on Plumlee tbh, he's been pretty damn solid for the Suns this year.

Yeah, some great games on. Pacers squeak by the Nets, the Wizards stop OKC's run, Spurs get by the Kings and the Heat beat the Knicks

Oh and the Cavs lost again, this time to the Rockets

Only game of the night is on now on League Pass. Celtics lead the Magic 27-21 with 10 mins left the Q2.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,391 ✭✭✭D2D

Celtics lead by 9 at the half

Can't remember the last time there was only 1 game on during regular season.

Super bowl will do that though. The NBA knows there's no point trying to compete with it. The NHL only has two games and both are already playing at this stage.

Yeah, it's the norm now that nothing is scheduled against the Super Bowl
