Question about connecting amp to TV

25-10-2013 2:43pmHi lads,
I bought the Sony STR-DH520 from you there on Wednesday, and I'm very happy with it. I have it connected to an LG 42LA620V 3D TV, and the connections are as follows;
SKY HD Box into Receiver Sat input via HDMI
HDMI ARC from Receiver into HDMI ARC on TV
This works fine except when I access any of the Smart Apps on the TV I still hear the audio from the Skybox. I have to turn off the amp, and turn the TV speaker on to watch Netflix etc, or any material on my HDD.
What am I doing wrong connection wise, your help appreciated.
Regards,
Paul0

Thanks for getting in touch. Hopefully we can get you sorted
One thing to check is that the HDMI is plugged into the correct HDMI input on the screen. Going by memory it's HDMI 1 on the LG screen. It'll be labelled as ARC.
Another thing to check is that HDMI control is switched on in the amp settings. This will be in the HDMI settings. Check the link below for the 520 manual. If you pop to page 60 it will give you more info on this.

Tks for your reply, but no joy. I have checked that the amp & tv are connected via the ARC channel, and HDMI control is on. I'm going to try connecting via optical to the assignable channel and see if that works0 -

Optical should defiantly work ok. I'm gonna take another read through the manual here to see if I can work out what's going on with the ARC for you. Usually it's a straight forward process

High Decibel wrote: »Hi Chris, no joy with optical either, must be something I'm doing wrong
Have you checked the optical is assigned to the input you've the optical going into ok? Also on the ARC side of things I take it you've selected the TV input ok?
Sorry for all the questions.
