Rewiring lights with US plug

I recently bought some Halloween/fairy lights in the US and would like to rewire them to use here in Ireland. The US plug says "Use Only 3 A Max 125 V Fuse" while the label says "120V, 60 Hz, 0.12 A, 14.40 Watts, Z".

Is this possible/advisable to do, and if so, does it matter which of the two black wires I connect to the live and neutral pins?

you are going to have to get a transformer as voltage in Ireland is 230 volts unlike the U.S who use 110 volts.

How much (approx.) is a transformer for something like this?

OP, are the fairy lights LED lights, or are they the old school christmas tree bulb type? If they are LED, then they may already have a transformer that you can swop out for a one rated for 220V..

Either way, the transformer that Gate Automation linked to is more suitable to a building site than a set of fairy lights. You need a small travel adapter/transformer, like the one linked to below:
