I have a fairly old vaio laptop which only has a 100gb HD. The skybox has 500gb storage .

Is it possible to swap them .

Afaik the sky boxes use 3.5" desktop drives so likely nope :( . I think many Sky boxes also use the IDE/PATA standard so would be unusable with modern motherboards without IDE ports

    No is the short answer.

The long answer is that Sky+ boxes use 3.5" hard disks as used in desktop PCs. The disks in the Sky+ HD boxes are indeed SATA disks (the SD boxes are IDE), but they won't physically fit in a laptop.
