Apart from the stupid restricted breeds list, when you see headlines like this from what can only be described as "tabloid" in nature you do see why this country has stupid laws in the first place.

I for one regret getting a RB, after all the trouble I had with a neighbour and all the snide comments made by people when they see us out walking.

I give up on idiots like these. There is no talking to stupidity.

I don't for one moment regret having a dog that is on this list. The fun and joy they give me far outweighs the stupidity of politicians responsible for this stupid legislation.

Ive given them my 2c on their Facebook page, and there will be many of my RB owner friends following suit. Imagine, actually claiming they have more potential to be vicious!!

What a load of ignorant b****x

The gob****es that made up this law probably never kept a dog in their life.

The only thing I will say in their defence is that some a*****e dog owners
have made life difficult for us responsible dog owners with the way they
handle their dogs. Only the other day I heard of a foal being chased into the
local pond by two pitbulls and dying. Local cats are also being trapped to
    blood pitbulls around here.

I was up in the park last year with two of my dogs ( who were pups at the
time ) and a group of lads were trying to call them into the forest.
I walked into the forest and these a******s had six pitbulls ready to tear
    them apart. Cowardly b*****s.
    What chance have we got.

I have two breeds on the list.

I'm sure it won't be long before DCC and FCC have signs like these all over the place as well :(

what difference will they make, there are signs all over the gaff about picking up dog waste but they dont affect people who wont , if you want a picture of the type of people making these laws ( BSL) just look further down on that link , says it all really

Ah for fuck's sake!!! That's ridiculous  Here was me thinking there were enough opponents to BSL that stuff like this couldn't possibly get passed anymore.

Clearly the people in charge are either:
    a) Not consulting with any experts and just making off the cuff decisions
    or
    b) Consulting with 'experts' who are talking completely from their bum region

Both pretty grim possibilities that speak volumes about this country :(

Someone in the local authority there obviously has a bee in their bonnet about the "viciousness" of restricted breeds. I find the prejudice really galling. As if every individual dog of those breeds is a risk to society, and dogs off the list are not. It's ridiculous.

This is truly worrying if County Councils are even considering such a move!! It's not only outright ignorance on their part, but simple laziness that they won't sanction bad owners appropriately. Instead placing another unwarranted obstacle in front of those who consistently train their "vicious" RB's and socialise them to tbe highest degree.

Yet another attack by government officials to those whom actually pay the dog license and put their animal before all else.

I'm truly disgusted at this concept of gawdy and unecessary signage to be allocated in scenic spots/walking areas because of lowlifes getting away with unsocial activities ie. An unruly dog off leash.

There has been several attacks on dogs and people around Tralee in the last few weeks by an loose unmuzzled dog described as a pitbull. This is the reason I'd imagine.

Putting up signs, wardens and bags to scoop the poop would be more in their line. Tralee is awash with dogsh*t

And that is worrying for animals and people alike. But if those signs go up, do you really think they'd be taken down again after that dog is caught? They certainly don't rush in taking them down after election time. And so it feeds in to this ridiculous notion that RB's are more dangerous than other breeds.

This is daft and some person walking a boxer will probably get an earful as people just don't know dog breeds. Complete waste of time and money. And yes more dog poop bins would have been better.

I saw this exact same bulletin in The Link (free paper distributed to houses in Celbridge/Maynooth/Leixlip) specifying Castletown House.

Must be something the OPW are promoting all over Ireland at the moment.
