extra mailboxes

is it possible to get more data in mailbox eg longer limit or more message room
currently its 20 messages ?
on website it says you can get extra mailboxes and to dial 171 put in your password number follow the promps and press 9 for mailboxes
yet when i tried there was no 9 option it says youve entered wrong or something ?

To avail of the extra mailboxes you must firstly request this service to be added to your account. Please contact accounts on free phone 1901 to request this service.

It can take up to 24 hours for this to be added to your line once requested however when this is added please follow these instructions:

• Lift your receiver and dial 171.
• When asked, key in your messaging password, followed by #.
• Press 4 to go to personal options.
• Press 9 to go to the extension mailbox tutorial.
• Follow the spoken prompts.
• As you set up each extension, the system will give you a password for every one. Please write down the password and give it to the extension mailbox user.

Hi Curehead

An extra line brings an extra monthly line rental fee of €20.96 ex vat per month.

If the line is already in place then then the connection cherge for reactivation is €20.65 ex vat however if an engineer is required to install the line a connection fee of €107.43 ex vat would apply.

those extra mailboxes were not exactly what i thought they were
turns out they are just mailboxes for particular people in a house or something
it turns out 20 messages is the most you can keep on any line and the extra line
messages still go to mail line anyway
oh well

Here is the info for maibox extra

There is a Monthly rental of €1.51 inc vat

Accessibility: you can listen to your messages from your home phone and from any other touch-tone phone, including your mobile.*
Text messages: if somebody sends you a text message and you don't have a text phone phone you can still get the message.
eircom mailbox will convert the text message to speech. This can then be collected from your eircom mailbox.
You will be alerted to a message by a broken dial tone and once you've picked it up the tone will return to normal.
With eircom mailbox you can have 1, 2 3 or 4 mailboxes (eircom mailbox extra). So now as many as four people in your household can have their very own mailbox, each with a personal greeting and private password. So now the only person who gets to listen to your messages is you!


It is generally geared towards tenants in the same address having personal message access.

If you contact 1901 - option 1 they can revert you back to the standard mailbox.
