I finally got through to someone in Sky Ireland after approximately 13 minutes on hold and passed around Sky UK.

A very nice customer service agent at SKY Ireland looked into it and basically what happened is they split the refund agreed upon, part of it went straight back into bank account and the other part went into account credit to be refunded within three months.

Why they do it this way, no one knows, but this is how its done.
