    Hello all.

Wondering what's best to fill a 150mm cavity wall?

    A heating company recommended Rockwool and I was wondering what the;

    A) Price and
    B) Performance

of Rockwool is when measured against beads?

    Thanking you all in advance,

    Tiler.

Does "a heating company" have the expertise to make recommendations?

    Is this a new build?
If so, what does your independent BER assessor or energy advisor advise and why?

Ensure that whatever you choose is BBA/IAB certified and all conditions of certificate are complied with.

They recommend what works best with their product. I was looking for an informal second opinion.

Someone can correct me but for cavity, its beads or kingspan, extratherm, quinntherm boards,

For me, boards all the way, why,
Beads fill the cavity, joining the two walls.
I'd be afraid of settling. What's beads like in a cavity 15 yes time.
Drill a hole, beads every where.

Boards, make sure its done right, and go 80 or 100 mm. Then 50mm on the inside of the outter walls

And there's a good chance that in 15 years time if you were to remove the insulated plasterboard that you would find the wall covered in mould. It's best keep all the insulation within the one zone rather than splitting it.

For me, beads all the way because:
You'll always have small gaps around and behind the boards, giving you thermal looping.
The beads are pumped in under pressure, filling every crevice.
Drill a hole, the beads stay where they are, because they are coated with adhesive during the pumping process.
