Have to plant a laurel hedge tomorrow,it is in pots, about 2 ft high shoots, are they safe tonight outside?....meant to be a heavy frost....left it out today to get good drenching from the rain.

    No problem. Very hardy plant.

Yes, it comes from places with colder winters than us anyway - zones 7 and 6 (colder winters than us) and we're in 8 and 9 (warmer winters). It comes from the Balkans.

Didn't get all planted on Sunday, hope to finish this weekend, will be going into good topsoil with remainder....place I got hedge in sold me compost to put in under base of plant and said to mix some chicken feed in with the compost before then firming in plant with soil
Is the compost really needed?.....the topsoil hedge is going into is good stuff.
