Like Rick O'Shea, Will Leahy, etc, before him. Next stop - tumbleweed in RTE Gold.

Time to get rid of Dave Fanning.

No, no, no, no, no and no.

Dave and Larry Gogan are two stalwarts of the station, and they are genuine good presenters-just present the show, don't bring your baggage with you (ahem, Eoghann...you reading this? Doubt it).

If 2fm lost em, then they'd lose a good chunck of talent and good will too.

As long as they keep Dave Fanning where he is, I don't mind.

He is the reason I turn the radio onto 2FM on a Saturday & Sunday - he plays his own tunes & you can not compare his interview with the Cranberries Boys to Muireanns one last Friday - Dave just has the experience and knowledge.

But, I am wondering is Keith gonna take Dave's spot & Dave is off to Tubs slot when he takes the summer off and RTE Gold for replays of Fannings Fab 50!

Larry is no longer on 2FM

Does Dave Fanning still answer the questions as he's asking them?

I don't often use Bill Maher as an example-I mean, why would you? But he made a great point one time about how Larry King was essentially forced to quit his show to make room for...Piers Morgan.
(Morgan quit after about two years, after showing how completely out of his depth he was. That, and failing ratings.) Larry King launched a podcast, and it proved to be very popular. Showing his value.

Maher essentially noted how the huge chunk of experience that older folks brought to the table-far more so than the folks 'terking der jerbs'.

Fanning has that decades of experience dealing with rockers, rockstars, artists and musicians. And getting amazing interviews out of them-because he knows the mentality, he knows the way to corral people.
(Case in point-he had a great interview with Meg Ryan back in his Movie Show days. Even Michael Parkinson couldn't do that). The only one who ever gave him s**t, years afterwards, was Samantha Mumba... and we all know her as a spoilt diva who killed her own career.

Muireann isn't a bad person-most definitely not. But she's often out of her depth on certain things, unfortunately.

I doubt she'd burn her bridges with RTE so quickly... I mean, I imagine her dad burning bridges that could have helped his career possibly weighs on her mind.

They were atrocious on that FAS course radio station I Radio why oh why were they brought to 2fm.

But then again Dan Healy has made some huge poor judgment calls.ok he was seen as the saviour but come on his track record with I Radio sure any one would have got a listener ship with that station after all what had the kids if the Whest got up to that the death and funeral show and come in to the fire be jasus its 10 nathan Carter songs in a row.

I guess mr Healy is showing how to flounder in mainstream radio.
Only one good decision was bringing Jenny back.

So I saw a tweet from Jenny Greene this morning about her being back and now on drive which is a great move as she should have never left in the first place. So I see Eoghan “constantly offended” McDermott is now on breakfast with Doireann Garrihy. I’ve no real issue with doireann but McDermott I don’t like so probably won’t listen to it because of him. So where is Keith and Lottie gone to then ?

Keith is Weekends and Lottie is Entertainment News.

I assumed IRadio was similar to Spin 103 and that they were similar to BEAT, Red FM and Spin South West?

It looks like they will never be promoted to the weekday schedule now, they have been on 2fm since 2014 & have only ever covered for people when they were off. (maybe they are getting the boot to make way for Keith Walsh at weekends?)

I think they will be moved to weekend breakfast and Keith will be moved into their slot. Or maybe they'll move to a commercial station.

Tuned in to 2FM this morning

Dave Fanning was discussing The Beatles, Lennon & McCartney..... interesting enough but not what 2fm is about.

What music? Being a public service broadcaster?

When are the changes going to start? I'm sure there will be a lot of temporary hosting of shows going on over the coming weeks. Did Breakfast Republic finish on Friday?

If radiotoday.ie is right, then Jenny Greene will be 3 to 6, with Game On starting earlier, at 6pm.

I'm still not convinced Game On belongs on 2FM, even less so with an hour earlier slot.

Tara Stewart then has a show from 7 to 10.

From what I've heard she is going to be doing entertainment news.

Seems to be going for the current pro female angle like slot of companies which is good to see but don’t do it to be trendy

Game On on 2FM really doesn't fit, but moving it to 6pm during the peak of drivetime is beypnd bizarre.

    A sports show at 6pm?

It has no place on a music station.

Not only that, it interrupts the flow of the day. I switch over when it comes on.

Radio 1 flows nicely from news to Arena to Creedon.

Any one catch the new breakfast show this morning. What is the early verdict?

2FM seem to specialise in flow-interruption.

Saturday evenings - dance show -> hip hop show -> dance shows. Despite vain attempts by radio programmers for two and a half decades to create "rhythmic" as a category covering both, the crossover in audience between Electric Disco and Mo-K listeners is probably 1% and I imagine there is a massive switch over to TodayFM when Mo-K starts; and then Mo-K's listeners turning off when Mr Spring starts.

As far back as I can remember, 2FM has had oddball programmes in its schedule. Alan Corcoran's Irish music show stuck out like a sore thumb back in the day. I can't remember if it was on for one or two weekend nights but it should've been on Radio 1.

Has Doireann started on brekkie yet? If so, that's similar to how her new co host started on drivetime early back in 2015.
