Some are, in that the ones I've seen so far that are lead to either direct main missions or important peripheral functions. Usually marked in Gold.

im not really interested in the repetive side stuff so jumping in and out of the helipad is kinda annoying on long play sessions lol

You are playing the wrong game then.

You have to do all the repetitive stuff to get the better weapons/gadgets and the storyline makes you straight up redo stuff at a particular point as well.

Hope you like raiding the same 5 camps on each map because you're going to be doing it a lot.

It's one of the most transparently repetitive games i've played recently.

Has anyone been able to connect to the servers since launch?

I have only connected twice since the game came out and Konami states that the servers are fine. At first I thought it was my internet but even whilst playing up in the girlfriend's house I still can't connect to the servers. It's like it won't even try.

I get "logging in"........."logging in"......."failed to log in to server (error: 10003)" or thereabouts.

It didn't bother me too much at first but I'm after beating the main story after 90 hours and after a week of having the game I was hoping to connect by now....

Is anyone else having this issue?

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,160 ✭✭✭tok9

I've been able to log in most days. Early on it was dodgy but it's been fine since for logging into it.

That said while in it, other menus tend to be slow.

Anyway, I've hit one set of credits now. Don't want to spoil anything in terms of mission numbers etc. Really looking forward to getting into the rest of the main missions.

Edit: Tip... after the credits roll, skip the next cutscene. It's basically a teaser for what's to come. Bloody Kojima is some man to spoil!

PS4 version connects for me most times at start up and then boots me after about half an hour without fail.

It'll reconnect from the pause menu but I usually don't bother because it just makes the menus slow

You steal him in a main mission, you may have missed it. Highlight the missions you have done and it will say on the top right what is unlockable/findable in it.

Sake Extract Side no 11.....have failed this in a few creative ways.

My favourite being Quiet tranqing the target as he was throwing a grenade. It dropped at his feet and blew him up.

For people complaining about FOBs being raided. Here's a screenshot (well, two shopped together to fit everything in) of all the rewards for a successful defence while I was offline.

    Dat S staff member tho....

A+ is my new lowest limit for fulton extracting soldiers in the field. I've got too much staff and I need to start firing the A ranks slowly to make way for the A+

I'm also idling the game windowed at the lowest resolution on my secondary monitor while I do other stuff just so the materials process, developments complete and dispatch missions are done.I can pop back to it to start more developments and missions to keep the economy flowing. Very annoying that it doesn't do it when you're not playing like Warframe, Rise of Incarnates etc so I have to resort to this idling BS. Got enough GMP to do anything I want now thanks to selling useless processed precious metal.

When staff get dismissed due to MB being at full capacity, I assume the lowest ranking soldiers get the boot first and not the new A+ staff I just fultoned in?

That's how it works. I never bother with staff management and all my units except for the defence team (combat team takes priority in auto assign) have a minimum of A++ staff.

iv only done a few side missions maybe like 10 or so and have been able to get alot of the good stuff from just doing main missions and capturing people to the motherbase

im really enjoying the game the missions are cool

but side content in open world games make me wanna puke these days

Article released on Facepunch forums claiming a whole chapter was left out (linking V back to MGS1). Anyway went back to this over last few days to give it a second chance and I can safely say I'm done with it.

I'm not looking for holes in the gameplay but it's hard to ignore simple things like when you throw a grenade from behind a wall (where enemies can't see you) and when it exploded, the guards attention is brought immediately to you behind said wall. The balance is just not there. Enemies are either too stupid to see you 30 feet in front of them or overly capable in pinpointing your position when they shouldn't be able to.

Put all your good soldiers on lock. Stops them from dying or being extracted but you can't play as them to defend then which makes not a damn difference since even E ranks play the same as S when A.I and when you control them.

Well considering the game isn't progressing while you're not playing it (apart from FOBs or online stuff which work on real-time), it would be a bit stupid for everything else to keep progressing.

BTW selling plants is also a great way to get GMP. Particularly if you do the dispatch missions that net you massive plant yield. You can have max 3000 of resources like plants, so once you hit that - sell 1000 and you have 500k - 1m GMP depending on the plant. Your GMP maxes out at 5m anyway, you cannot hold more than 5m at once.

They do indeed. Just be careful with it. I had a bit of a fúck up the other day. No sooner had I got a metamaterials expert than he was dismissed. His stats weren't good enough. Thankfully I have to do the mission again for a full completion run... Same deal with a few of the specialists, particularly from the earlier missions - their stats are just crap. You need to direct contract them to prevent them being dismissed.

You mean secondary platform construction etc? If you had your main platform (command/medical/R&D/etc) setup and the security configured, then when you build secondary platforms to those, the security automatically scales. At least thats what I've found.

does the general level of enemy soldiers increase as the game progresses? I' still in Afghanistan, finishing up side ops and the majority of enemies are at the B/C level.

Yeah it does. I'm coming across at least 1+ S rank in every outpost now, the rest are A++ mostly

I think the level might be determined by how many main missions you've done. I'm replaying some of the early main missions and coming across A+ and higher soldiers.

Found this super multi-talented dude during side-op number seven, he ran over after I threw a grenade on the communications device on the roof of the building that held the blueprint, if anybody wants to pick him up :D

Heroism supposedly governs enemy soldiers stats and level of difficulty/gear.

You wouldn't really notice that because logically as your progress through the game, you Heroism score goes up as well and the enemy gets a bit better equipment so it may as well have been tied to main mission progress

Certain things negatively effect your heroism (and demon points) though. Killing everyone will detract in relatively small amounts each time, but investing in nukes for your FOB is an instant minus 50,000 heroism points.
