Certain things negatively effect your heroism (and demon points) though. Killing everyone will detract in relatively small amounts each time, but investing in nukes for your FOB is an instant minus 50,000 heroism points.

They probably just tie it to Demon points in the same manner if you do negative stuff.

Heroism supposedly governs enemy soldiers stats and level of difficulty/gear.

You wouldn't really notice that because logically as your progress through the game, you Heroism score goes up as well and the enemy gets a bit better equipment so it may as well have been tied to main mission progress

Ahh, I thought they were mission/side op specific. Like anyone could drop into side-op 7 and fulton a super A++ dude :(

Found this super multi-talented dude during side-op number seven, he ran over after I threw a grenade on the communications device on the roof of the building that held the blueprint, if anybody wants to pick him up :D

    Jaysus, who needs Snake ?

I'm not going to quote you EasyD but I feel want you've posted is a spoiler.

In what way, shape or form is that a spoiler? It's been well established that large parts were left out in the final release, plenty of articles on it.

How do i set up a FOB?
I've only just finished mission 12 so maybe it unlocks later?

FOBs unlock after mission 22 IIRC.

Hey folks, have just done a few of the main missions and side ops - loving it so far. But can someone tell me, in Staff Management what does the flashing white dot beside a person's name mean? Cheers.

    Never heard anything about it.

Just tried doing the FOB training, spent 20mins running around in circles trying to figure out what I was supposed to be doing. Killed everyone I came across and no idea what to do next. There was a yellow marker on the map but no way to reach it, what am I missing?

That platform is a bit of a maze all right, the yellow mark is the mission goal. Also, aren't they your staff you've just killed?

    They're new staff.

51% complete. Not a fan of the extreme/other variants on the main missions, they shouldn't be in the main list category put them as a side op, really feels like padding.

I get that the yellow mark is the goal, but I can't see how Im supposed to get to it. I was told that my staff wouldn't be harmed. I was sneaking and tranqing at first, but then when I couldn't figure out what I was supposed to do I just murdered everyone as they were starting to bother me :p

Gameplay-wise, this is fantastic but it all feels a bit hollow to me. Lack of cutscenes, respawning bases, "go here fulton/kill him" missions. I'm hoping it picks it but I'm little disappointed so far.

It's a spoiler in the same way as saying Snake isn't the main character in MGS2.

A lot of people (myself included) thought
that MGSV would lead up to MGS1 or at least the MG games
but you've just confirmed that won't be happening.

Also I have not read any of these articles and have no intention of until I complete the game. I saw one person mention there being cut content but he wasn't specific on what.

How many main missions have you completed so far?

White dots anywhere in the menus mean new. Yellow dots signify important. So white dots in mission list are new missions, yellow are important missions. Beside staff mean new staff. ie. those are the most recent staff you've fulton'd.

The goal is a door on the platform. It is usually locked during normal visits to mother base, but is recognisable because it will have a locked (red) bar above it, and beep as you walk past it. Usable doors are also visible using the NVGs. During FOBs it is unlocked (blue above door) unless you're in an alert phase. There is also a giant arrow on the ground outside the door pointing towards it.

Obviously because each platform has different orientation and planning, the position of the goal changes. In almost all of them you have to climb stairs to get to the goal, in some cases (command / combat platform) it is the highest door on the platform. Medical platform its the first floor. Base development it's up the ramp. Intel you have to climb the satellite. One of them is downstairs, where some plants are growing. Might be support platform.

No damage done to staff or any resources stolen in training / visit mode are actually counted. This goes for supporters too. If you visit their FOB to train, no damage you do counts, so they won't lose any staff through KIA or extraction, nor will they lose any resources you steal.

About 20 missions in and Mother Base is still frustrating me a little bit. Obviously I haven't set up FOBs since they haven't unlocked but it's the lack of information on who can be found where is driving me insane.

    I've been to the
blue door on the Med Bay and bumped into an old friend. Go back every so often to check in
    .

Is there anything I should be doing while there? Is there anyone
I can drop in on like Huey, Ocelot etc?

I've noticed a couple of doors on the base that have a red bar on top of them and appear to be locked and open up at some point, I think.

I understand that I can improve morale by interacting with the soldiers on the base and they tell me where the diamonds on the base are when interrogated. Should I be Fultoning them afterwards? I'm assuming not. Seems odd that it would give me the option to do it from Mother Base.

Ok, thanks for that info. Maybe it was because the base was in alert mode that I couldn't see any open door. I can't remember which platform my training took place on though... eh, Il return to it later. I was more frustrated the game was making me do the training, as I just wanted to continue with a main mission.

This is what the Extract the wandering mother base soldier side ops are for. When you complete the side-op, you get a memento photo. Every time you visit Paz, you can give her the new photo. Just walk up to her and press the action button when prompted. You can only give her one at a time as she falls asleep after, but you can go outside and use the phantom cigar to speed up time if you don't want to bother returning to MB again and again.

Even if you already knew that, the next bit may be a spoiler - hence why I've spoilered it on its own.
There are 10 of those side-ops. Once you've completed them all and given Paz all 10 photos, you'd be expecting a cut-scene. There's a secret 11th photo. It's not obtained by doing a mission or side op. It's in the hallway outside Paz' room. Once you give her the 11th photo, you get the final cutscene with Paz.
    Is there anyone
I can drop in on like Huey, Ocelot etc?
You can drop in on Huey on the R&D platform, but perhaps you haven't reached that point in the game yet. He starts working on a project, then you can visit.

I haven't found Ocelot or Kaz anywhere though.
I've noticed a couple of doors on the base that have a red bar on top of them and appear to be locked and open up at some point, I think.
These are the goal doors for FOB missions. During FOB infiltration, this is unlocked and is the door you have to reach to complete the infiltration.

Walking by them, bumping into them, using sonar or knock. Anything so that they notice you are there will cause a morale boost. I can't remember is there a separate one for beating the schit out of them :pac: If you fulton them from MB, they just arrive back at MB. It's just wasting GMP really.

There still would be a giant arrow pointing towards the goal door, it would just be red instead of blue. Training was probably on your command platform. It's IMO the biggest pain in the hole for getting to the goal door as you have to take an awkward route. Watch some youtube videos of FOB infiltrations, you'll see where the doors are.

Honestly, it doesn't really change all that much.

"Extract the prisoner 1" is pretty much the same as "Extract the prisoner 17". Same goes for all the side missions.

I've started having the same stuck-up attitude :pac::pac:. Any lower than A+ and you're gone.

I'm doing the main missions as stealthily as possible, extracting as many people as I can and getting A/B ratings, but then for the side op missions, I'm doing a bit more gung go and killing lads if need be and scouring the area for every material

What are the cons/negatives of doing it that way? I just can't bring myself to spend 40 mins doing things the right way on a base, only to repeat that same formal on a side mission.

Exactly how I'm doing it too. You're not graded on side ops so you have a bit more freedom to go a bit Rambo. I can't see anything wrong with it.
