Overall impressions are good. Feels like a vdsl connection. Very responsive.

Obviously I may be one of the only people on my mast on the 4g network.

    But interesting nonetheless,

I think this rings true with 4G currently.

    LINK

    i.e. - Awesome connection - Tiny Allowance...

The round trip time is the most impressive thing about those numbers.

The pings are pretty amazing when you consider where we have come from!

I was impressed by surfing on the move at between 60 and 120 kph, the data still flowed. something that wasn't great on 3g as we all know.

Pity it's available on so few phones, for example it's not available on the iPhone 5

Anybody tried Vodafone 4g on a standard sim unlocked Nokia lumia, eg 920? Just wondering if an additional firmware upgrade is required for those phones that are already lte capable.

You need to be specifically provisioned for LTE services - think there is a specific sim card too.

How did you go about getting 4g? Did you have to get a new sim and were you on an existing plan with vodafone?

This is a trial 4g dongle I'm playing around with.

4G is not available on Vodafone phones yet. Only on the broadband dongles.

Word is that phone services will be within the next two weeks. Some phones will work straight away i believe like the HTC One.

The iPhone 5's only problem is that Apple have not certified it yet, not that it does not work. When apple have finished their testing, they will send an update to the phone and 4G should work. (Probably)

Just wish they'd give these connections at reasonable prices, and higher allowances, for people in confirmed Rural areas... :(

Currently on the 20GB Vodafone package - great connection, but that damn allowance is so friggin miniscule !! And Mobile Broadband is currently my ONLY option...

So would LTE be classed as broadband then and not midband? :)

Exact same boat as yourself, I supposedly can get 4g in my area so that superior speeds would be great but the data allowance is a waste of time. I guess the more the allowance, the greater the speeds will suffer. Also, when 4g becomes fully availble, the speeds are gonna dramatically decrease so it probably wont be too much of a step up from 3g during peak times.

Your 4G is faster than my home DSL,

    This makes me sad....

No absolutely not...it will always be midband.

The important thing to note is that LTE is a shared resource which is shared between all users on that sector so therefore the more users the less bandwidth available to each user and so on all the way down to almost nil or to no connection at all. This may have been addressed but I can see no references to it in the LTE specs.

Anyone gone for the Meteor option? Slightly more 10gb data at 30GB and unlimited data until March?
