    Hi everybody,
I have an evic that I've been able to destroy already twice (the head).
Now I bought a easy head but I really don't want to spend 40 more euro for the head that I'll destroy once again :P

I was thinking to something else a bit less expensive.

I am not sure between vamo V5 and innotek svd?
Or even the mpv, just I don't like that I can't change the battery.

    Which is the more resistant?

    thanks

Move onto a mech mod with a kick.

ehm.. what is a mech mod?

I am not super expert... even if I would like to be :D

A mechanical mod is just a battery housing case really - like a tube. You use a specialist battery in them, looks just like a regular battery (but don't use those!).
A mech mod only gives you one level of power, some are more powerful than others but basically the level of power stays the same/constant until the battery dies.

A 'kick' is a small 'chip' that you insert into the mechanical - this gives it variable voltage power (VV) as oppossed to just the one level of power.

    An example: Sigelei 20

    Sigelei Kick

I'm not really sure why so many vapers seem to favour this type of set up compared to a 'traditional' electronic cig (such as an eGo - battery one unit) so maybe someone can explain briefly why they think a mech mod is better? A question I've been meaning to ask myself, just haven't got round to really thinking bout them yet.

I have two mech mods myself, two cheapies, and as they are the power and battery life are minimal so I barely use - therefore I know I need to buy a Kick and some bigger batteries - but mech mod lovers: why better than an all-in-one? Thanks

Reliability, durability, shinyness, size and battery life.As you said you've used a mech mod without a kick and feel the battery life is crap,i'd imagine this is because you're noticing a voltage drop as the battery depletes. The battery may still have half life or so left, but the power it's outputting is pretty crap. That's where the kick comes into play. With a kick you can hold constant high power, so you get the best out of your battery.

I wouldn't use a mech mod without a kick personally, and i couldn't be bothered with the hassle of sub ohm coils to combat the problem etc etc,so the kick does the job for me.

Basically you get rid of the stupidly over-sized electronics in the likes of the vamo and gain a little more (a lot really) in terms of reliability.

Thanks Celly. Really helpful reply there.

I've rebuilt many a coil so far and am just learning about these 'sub-ohms' you mention (which you say can counteract the issue of a mod devoid of a Kick (or similar)) - I would rather stay clear of that hassle too, as I know that for sub-ohm territory you have to use no-resistence wire, hook it meticuluously up to a gauged wire etc.

I'm delighted you mentioned a comparison to the sizes of Vamo etc - I was/am thinking of buying one (for home, as an extra - and oh! those colours!) but to have a device which I can comfortably use in public (discretion) which has as you profess a more reliable output...then I am now well and truly sold on the whole mech-mod thing.

Sabina - sorry if I've appeared to hijack your thread but my conclusion now is that you should go for a mech-mod.
I've read quite a few comments on the Evic and have wondered why it's head (or whatever the term is) is available seperately (aside from the fact you can add a colourful 'tube' to it) - they do seem to have a few issues.

Any suggestions of a mechanical under the €100 mark?

I'm probably being a bit cheeky here...but I have a mech for sale on the For Sale/Swap thread..Its a GP Paps Lux and I think many would agree it's rather a pretty little device.

Open to offers to see it have a good home.

Wow thanks for all the answers..
I will read it and try to learn more..

I want to start now with the rebuildable so I think I will be busy on that :P then maybe I can switch to a mechanic..
    I think it's a bit "early" (even if I vape for 1 year already :P )

anyway I bought the vamo SS from abroad far away for cheap, I don't want to spend too much now because i want to buy a atimistique diver ... I've read a lot about it and I hope it could help me to stop with the cartomizers :D

Well, the MVP is one solid piece of hardware. It lasts days on a charge and it's built like a tank. Compact too. It is a bit on the heavy side though.

No need for NR wire to sub-ohm, just thicker wire and a battery rated for the high-amp output.

If you can wait, the Nemesis and Sentinel clones from fasttech are available for ~€16-€22 (the Nemesis is very Kick-friendly, not sure if the sentinel can take an 18650 w/Kick).

If you can't wait, the Magneto performs consistently well in tests and Bargain Vapour has the version without the ugly logo on the tube.

The Sigelei 8w is also rated highly but I think it's only available from the UK. Has the same form factor as a Caravela but no logo and better performance.

Both around the €40 mark I think, and neither take an 18650 w/Kick.

    Cheers for that knowledge!

As always - thank you Grindle! Will very likely follow your advice in the very near future. Your good deed is done for today. You will have a wonderful sleep tonight. Alacazam! :D

I got the first MVP and loved it with the VV. I dont know what the new MVP2 is like, I am nearly sure it has VW now too, I loved the solidity and boxyness of it and huge battery life. Im sure the newly added variable wattage is a great addition, its basically a rehoused VTR

Then got the SVD and got the hang of the VV/VW and loved it

I got my first Mech mod (unregulated at the moment) the other day and im loving it at the minute with my A7 rda. I picked up the Sigelei 20, not the most advanced piece of ass and the build quality isnt standard defining but as a first mod i am happy with it.
