A courier put a wrong statement into the tracking system, saying that they agreed a later delivery by telephone with us.

Fact is, they never called neither on the landline or on the mobile phones. They ignore my request about an explanation about why they put false statements into their tracking system.

Could this be raised with the NCA?

Are you the sender or the receiver. If you are the receiver, you can do nothing. Contact the seller and complain.

If you are the seller, look at using a different courier company.

Now this is not going to help you getting your item but it might kick up some stink, contact them and ask them for your record under the data protection act (will however cost you up to 6.35€) than when it comes complain that the data in their system is not factually correct, log a complaint with their data controller and if he tells you the data is correct complain to the data protection commissioner. Giving that most large courier companies have electronic records of calls there should be a record in their system about when they called you.

Not really going to help you getting your package but for sure making pain for the company in question who no question treated you bad.
