As the title states, can anyone recommend a PC repair service in the Dublin area?

I have a custom desktop, AsRock mother board, running Windows 7 Pro 64.

PC shutdown while running due to a power cut, on reboot I can get as far as the log-in screen, no USB function, so I have no input via mouse/keyboard, so can't perform a restore or get into the BIOS.

Tried using PS2 mouse/keyboard, same issue.

Removed the battery from the motherboard & replaced with a new one 48 hours later hoping this would reset the BIOS, all connections to the motherboard cleaned, checked & refitted...no joy!

    Any advice would be appreciated...

can you get into the bios (will the keyboard work at boot)
might just be a dodgy driver.

I have no input via USB/PS2 mouse/keyboard at all, even at boot unfortunately :(

Do you have a spare PSU to test before the most likely motherboard is changed?

PSU tested & functioning 100%...looks like I'm going to have to go the new motherboard route

    boot from a Livecd,
    eg mint, http://www.linuxmint.com/edition.php?id=29

See if it works on a keyboard,
its possible the usb , ps2 drivers may have been deleted,
by a virus.or due to the power cut .

SEE can you boot from a windows 7 dvd,
you could reinstall into a new directory,
AND your data will still be in windows old folder.

I don't live in Dublin any more so don't know people unfortunately. This doesn't sound like it should be difficult to know whether it's solved or not though.

If I were troubleshooting and you're getting as far as the login page for the OS I would start by using a know good keyboard to access the BIOS with only PSU, keyboard and screen attached (no hard drive or anything else including on board graphics instead of a card). If that didn't work I'd try a different screen then a different PSU. I might change the power socket after that but straws are beginning to be clutched by that stage. Last thing I would try would be to replace mb and psu but my guess is that you'll find that one of your peripherals is the source of the problem. You can check for the peripherals yourself but you're right to look for a shop if that doesn't sort it.

you Could put in a pci ,usb card ,
AND run ,or install linux from a usb pendrive 1 gigabyte.
THE only tech i know is in electronic recycling finglas,.
    they have a website ,
theres a sign on the office wall,
    quote;
50 euro per 30 mins laptop repairs.

    end quote
    HE builds pcs,
i don,t know if they fix pcs.
GET a cheap usb pci card ,
in case mobo is daamaged ,it could break usb card.
ARE you using the same cpu, on both motherboards.
see does linux load ,with no hardrive plugged in.
    ITS possible hd is faulty,
or in conflict with the motherboard ,in some way.

That's impressively pricey even for Dublin!

Seriously, you're making it too complicated.

Strip it down to the bare minimum and see if it works then. If it doesn't bring it to a repair shop as it's likely the PSU and/or MB. A shop will have the equipment to test/swap out to identify the problem.

If on the other hand he can get into the BIOS in stripped down mode start adding in the peripherals one by one until it doesn't work.

BTW - I've assumed all along that this did work at some stage.

P.S. It's an odd problem. But for the inability to get into the BIOS with 2 separate keyboards on separate connections I would have put money on it being a software problem.

switch around the 2 ram chips,
    try booting up,
IF that doesnt work, put 1 ram chip in slot 0.
PUT in an old pci grhics card if you have one.
or use onboard vga if theres motherboard grahics.
DONT connect hard drive if you, cant even acess the bios menu.

Can we assume you are using the original RAM and processor?
As the initial problem started after a power cut there is the possibility a power surge has caused damage to either of these or even the power supply.
I know of 2 reasonably priced no fix no fee ones, one in DL, one near cc

Its a process of elimination. Exactly as others have said remove everything. Then add them back one by one, (or replace) until it boots. As above I reckon a surge has damaged something, first guess would be motherboard, (and you've tried that) but then I'd check the ram, cpu and psu any of them could be damaged. Of course more than one thing could be damaged.

I'm guessing processor if you've changed the board.
