It's a horrible tragedy all around....but I think people are judging the guy a bit too harshly.

The girl was 'highly intoxicated', her BAC level was .218% (that is very, very drunk. Many people pass out at .218; and she had marijuana in her system as well. That was her BAC level when she was killed, 2.5 hours after her car accident.

She was 19 at the time, so both the alcohol and weed were illegal. Driving while intoxicated is also illegal.

She crashed into a parked car (or tree, there are conflicting reports) and then exited her vehicle and fled the scene (hit-and-run, also a very serious crime). That happened at 1am and witnesses phoned the police.

After she fled the scene, she returned 40 minutes later, and someone again called the police.

When police arrived, she had fled the scene again.

Nobody knows where she went or what she was doing during the time, but it wasn't until nearly 4 that she ended up on the door-step of a house a km away.

She wasn't shot in the back of the head, implying that she was leaving. She was shot in the face.

The homeowner admits shooting her, saying it was accidental. I don't see any reason to assume the guy was a racist, just waiting for a person of a particular race to knock on his door in the middle of the night, intoxicated, bloodied, so he could commit murder. I also don't understand the racial outcry, police invested and the guy is being charged with second degree murder.

As sad as it is; there are plenty of examples of criminals pretending to be hurt or injured, knocking on a door and using that to gain entry.

I think too many Americans are too frightened and think the world is like a horror movie.

Irish people are heading that way too.

There's a hysterical notion that everyone is an going to turn out to be some kind of vicious attacker.
We are becoming frightened of our own shadows and it's wrecking society.
