That Manveer Heir guy may be racist....he may not be. I don't know. But the colour slider has absolutely nothing to do with him.

People attributing the shade of colour on your character to racism...... are at best ignorant and at worst willfully sh*t stirring and its exactly the kind of thing I've come to expect from the facebook generation.

He is racist. I can understand anonymous trolls posting racist stuff online but it's kind of incredible that he posts these things under his own name.

Anyway, yeah the claims of racism regarding the colour slider are silly and pointless. Just like the complaining about diversity in the Witcher 3 or the constant bleating that Link should be a female in The Legend of Zelda.

That's the problem though, isn't it? People now have a platform to make these "criticisms" of games and so you are going to see more people making a fuss because the game isn't white enough or has too many whites or is appropriating someones culture.

Personally I think it will take a lot longer than that to happen but from an evolutionary stand point, it makes sense.

What was the setting that was causing it in the end?

AO. I had it set to Full HBAO but pulled it back to Standard HBAO. Although I had a massive fight on the first planet with a big monster and about 12 enemy NPCS and I was getting dips. I may have to lower shadows or lighting quality to bring it back up. These 3 settings are the real killers...

Has anyone decided not to take a visit to the Mass Effect section of the PS Store tonight based on the reviews?

Here. I was all set to dive in to this but the reviews, bugs and the fact I'm so into Overwatch and Zelda at the moment mean I'll probably get it seconds hand from somewhere.

I'm still trying to make my mind up between MEA, Horizon +BF1 DLC

Would Horizon take long to finish? Given your choices, I'd be inclined to get that, finish it and then trade it in for ME:A.

If it helps, the BF1 DLC is not great. The new game mode is decent and it's nice to have a bit more variety, but the new maps are mostly a bit meh.

I would imagine its a 40+ hours game? Good idea though.

As someone who really, really, enjoyed ME2 and 3, if I had to pick, I'd pick Horizon. I've heard NOTHING but great -> amazing -> excellent things

After the reviews came out, I went and preordered on PSN. Helped that I had 50 PSN credit but I heard all I had to from the reviews 'It's Mass Effect'. Bugs & glitches very rarely bother me. I can't wait to give it a lash tonight. Some of the whining online seems very over the top to me and some reviews backed this up. 'Sure it has it's problems but a great game lies underneath'.

Must check later if the new PS feature is live where you can pre-download the patch and it will install when it goes live. I read that has happened with a new release game recently. Will make a difference for midnight launch if the patch is a couple of GB's.

Yeah I've the trail version installed and yesterday it started updating. I thought the game was unlocking early but sadly no, it was the update above, which I suppose is a good thing.

Horizon is getting great reviews, I'd say take the chance on that (especially as it's a new fresh IP) unless you REALLY miss the ME universe.

    =====

I have decided to roleplay my FemRyder to want to bone everybody (male & female, human & non-human); she's had a 600yr dry spell.

Some of the dialogue has been cringey but it made me laugh - felt just as awkward as it should :pac:

There ain't a whole lot of roleplaying going on in this game to tell you the truth. In most situations so far i have had only 2 choices in how i could reply to someone.

Multiplayer guide here suggests not roughing the mode til your about 10 hours into single player to avoid spoilers. Handy tips on the mode as well.

You were doing so well until the last paragraph. Actually I'm 43 (hardly the FB generation) and knew nothing of this Manveer chap until the other day. Given some of his outrageous comments I don't think it is in any way sh*t stirring to raise this issue. Which is all i did. Do try to play the ball and not the man :-)

So mine is pre-loaded and ready to go, roll on 12!

Does anyone know if the day one patch is including in the pre-load? I'd hate for that to pop up at midnight :pac:

Waiting for extraction in the extraction zone. Rookie error. :p

    Looks great.

Smooth, which was my biggest fear.

Dashing out of cover and out of the map, falling into stairs, disconnects, host migrations.

That's the killer with this. It was good to see it isn't totally endemic and you can have a game without annoying bull****.

Good steady progression with the mutators and all that. It seems to be more content rich than ME3 multiplayer (bar maybe number of maps and weapons) and it'll probably get solid support for a long time.

Probably get it now when I've time to play it next week.

So, waited most of the night to get started (11pm) while everyone and their mother elsewhere got it early. Replayed from start (ditched trial save) and glad I did - seems I missed tonnes of side-missions and other things before even leaving for Eos (first real mission).

Doing some planet scanning but... You know... I'd have no problem with it if there wasn't a LONG ASS, UNSKIPPABLE TRAVEL SEQUENCE FOR EACH AND EVERY SPACE-STEP. Scanning 50 planets for a Q now seems a lot more tiresome than it really should be. Outside of that (and other minor quibbles), enjoyable. The facial stuff is still apparent, but not as in your face.

I did the same, abandoning the trial save and i was glad i did because my thoughts on the trial were fairly average. The patch actually did some good, surprisingly.

That scan 50 planets thing, personally i'm taking that as a long term goal, scan when i feel like it, not all at once.
