Anybody running this on a 3570k?

Im fine for gpu but from what im reading an intel quad core pre haswell may not be enough to run this smoothly/60fps. If i cant get a smooth 60fps ill leave it for awhile.

Cant seem to find much concrete online as origin still locks people out of accounts after 5 hardware changes so its just mostly benches with 7700K's floating around as most sites wanted to test gpu first.

    I am, with a GTX 970 and 8GB RAM.

I've a mix of high/ultra on 1440p and generally it's fine. I get the odd drop to 40-50 but if it lowered it to all high I likely wouldn't, you should be fine.

8 hours into my trial 3 multiplayer 5 SP and I'm at a part where its telling me to buy the game to continue.
I'm just after finishing the monolith puzzle on eos and I cant proceed further with the trial.
Everyone says the first 10 hours are very slow, what ive played was painfully slow anyways, please tell me there is plenty more combat to experience and a lot more to explore from this point? if so ill buy it.

From my limited time the crappy animations don't bother me too much because the combat is rather excellent which matters to me most, I just hope if I buy the game its a huge world to fight through and explore my way through.

that planet you are on now, you haven't seen half of it because of radiation the game moves you on after that and soon 4 or 5 more very different but of a similar size ones open up with just as much to do.

I just placed the survey hammers down on eos
did not end at all well got destroyed before I had time to get to cover

So let me get this clear in my head.
The Hyperion is the ship we're on and we're all supposed to pioneers, etc, but somehow, the Andromeda Initiative managed to bring along enough resources to build a big f*ck off Nexus in this new galaxy... without having checked out any of the planets near by? Without being found by these aliens? It kind of makes light of the journey we just made and how we're supposed to be forging a new frontier...

I've only just got here, but this doesn't make sense to me.

    Well my read on it,
the Nexus folks made the same journey as the Hyperion, but they left a year or so earlier. They were meant to be spending that time building the Nexus (which they never completed because sh*t hit the fan) so that there'd be a base of operations for the arks when they arrived. The arks carry the tens of thousands of colonists, who would need somewhere to live while the pathfinders are off clearing the way for colonies.
It makes enough sense to be fine by me.

14 hours in: still on Eos! :D
Most of that time is due to my bad driving

Really loving to combat to be honest. Had some excellent fights attacking a Kett base. Nearly was spoiled with the Overseer got stuck in a wall and i couldn't hit him (and would have had to go back 20 mins to the start of the entire fight), but managed to get him out with some force explosions.

I believe the arks (hyperion etc) were to arrive to a partially built nexus and then provide extra power and resources to finish building the nexus. The nexus wasn't supposed to be complete on our arrival, nor the system colonized fully - they were just the initial building block. The problem upon our arrival is they haven't managed to get the initial foothold for us because if the scourge and the arks are late in arriving

I also think the time between their arrival and ours was supposed to be much shorter because they say we are late when we do arrive, they'd stopped looking for us a year previous.

Same here. I found the radio and it has a full list of tracks but other than that, it's very quiet.

Not getting much huge issues but the ****ing eyes on characters, flicking back.

A lot of them look like they're high and trying real hard not to look it.

Overall I am enjoying the game. Still miss the whole Shepard story and characters, but hey, im sure ill warm up to these people eventually.

  • Registered Users Posts: 853 ✭✭✭DeadlyByDesign

One thing that is glaringly obvious...Ryder is no Shepard in personality or presence! I did my first big speech on the Tempest last night after leaving Eos and there was a collective "cool story bro" reaction in the room. Loved it! Maybe it was some of the dialouge options I picked but I loved that it seems that Ryder is very much learning the ropes being in a position of Authority.

I quite like some of the characters. Peebee, Vetra, and Drack are great so far. Not done any loyalty missions yet, but there is some good banter between all the characters i've used so far.

Vetra is bloody useless in combat though.

I see Eurogamer are ****ting on the game again today because of a character you meet for literally 2 minutes. I'm done with that site now, if you went solely on their opinions and articles you'd avoid this game thinking its an utter disaster, nevermind entire articles about irrelevant NPCs. They are gone to ****e lately for any sort of reliable information or opinion.

Meanwhile, I'm enjoying what i consider to be the best gaming experience of 2017 so far.

The headline said it all, just looking for clicks and outrage. The character in question is no worse than the other npcs. I didn't even listen while she was talking so missed the "stephan" part.

Says a lot when the comments are written better than the article but that's Eurogamer now. Out of date news & hit or miss blog entry journalism

To be fair, their Late to the Party segment is pretty good :D

Got a couple of hours in on this last night. I have to echo a lot of what's said here. It's a fun Mass Effect game in all it's wonky glory.

Don't know why people are surprised with eurogamer, they would be my last port of call for opinions or game reviews.
They used to be okay but the last few years its like clickbait headlines.

It's one thing to give the game a middle of the road review but they have continued hating on it with gem articles like "How to get enjoyment out of mass effect andromeda" (basically ignore all side missions) and then this gutter level crap today about the NPC.

Guys I am finding armour progression very slow. At level 7 and still only in the default armour. I dont have required resources to develop any armour that is a step up. Can I buy armour in the nexus (as I dont seem to be able to to it in the Tempest), to tide me over till I get resorces?

I'm still struggling with the menus, in particular weapons and develop tech. It's my own problem, I find them information overload so I haven't bothered trying to upgrade much. It's just very difficult (for me) to look at those pages and see what materials I'm missing and need to buy. It's a bit like when someone posts without paragraphs - all the info is there but I just haven't got the inclination to read through it.

Also I'm carry 26/50 items and I've no idea what they are or where to check. Still picking up stuff from the containers and no idea if I should hang on to them or not. Just not bothered to google and see what the story is.

Loving the game play though. Fighting is really slick.

The 26/50 only covers weapons and armours (incuding mods/augs for them). The junk stuff that counts as salvage and materials don't count towards this limit. There's two unlockable perks from viabiltiy points to up this.

On the R+D screens, the needed materials are shown at the bottom, with x/y being total/required.

I'd say you'd be advised to dismantly spare gear for the rare materials, like eezo, since credits isn't an issue.
