After years of using the comparison of Novices going to the marathon in 6 months being like a person without a licence signing up for a race after 6 months, well looks like I have been proven wrong :o

But it's an own goal. A 1% increase actually = stagnation. But perhaps I didn't credit walshb with sarcasm?!

I wouldn't get your hopes up as I suspect that Ron's the sort of 'guy' where it would all be over before it even started - seems to like the sound of his own 'voice'. Even if he were to use some sort of medical intervention to help raise a second smile, I'm sure he'd fire blanks.

Aahhh Ultrapussy, glad to see that your sense of humour bypass was an outstanding success.
Good that Ososlo took the post in the spirit of friendly banter intended. 😎

^ Yup - little one on the way in March :)

In the truest case of Murphy's Law ever, I finally got a London Marathon ballot spot this time too. At least the deferred spot in 2017 will be an incentive to get the baby weight off!

I just wanted to say a heartfelt thanks to all for you kind messages of support on the recent passing of my mother. I was in two minds about posting above, as Ma was a very private person, but I did mention her in last year's DCM race report, and she was chuffed when the OH showed it to her. I just wanted to capture how I felt at the time so I'd be able to remember it later, and I thought it might strike a chord among fellow runners.

We gave her a good send off on Thursday.

    Rave: Irish Funerals!

Going to chance my arm and try get capri's instead of shorts because my thighs rubbed the last time I did 10km so it was all I could focus on for the last section:o

Very witty, and very true. He couldn't have dismissed it any better. I haven't laughed as hard in quite a while. His delivery, body language and nonchalant attitude to it was comic genius. This from a non Roy Keane fan.
