Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi all

I have managed with a lot of luck to get my grandmother on my fathers side done ..

On my grandfathers side there's a lot of snippets of info ..
And as with a few Irish family's a lot of doors closing

My father was Denis Dineen born on the 4th of april 1939 ( now deceased ) hid father was Denis Dineen and mother Kate Donegan

Is there somebody that could help?
Or know of the cost of doing the research

Have a read of our sticky to start with: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056388162

Assemble everything you already know and round up the certificates knocking around so that you don't waste money buying things you already have.

You haven't mentioned what part of Ireland your family are from. Your Dad was born in 1939, so I would expect his parents to be young kids, or possibly even too young for the 1911 census. If that's the case, you'll need to get your grandparents marriage certificate (details how to in the sticky) to get their respective fathers' names.

If you want to come back to us with some more data, we can do a bit of digging for you.

to get you started - the likely references for Denis and Kate's marriage from the BMD Index. Denis jnr. seems to have been the youngest of three siblings.. so the search was for a marriage before 1937 in Cork district :
    Name: Denis Dineen
    Quarter/Year: Jul-Sep 1935
    Registration District: Cork
    Volume: 5 / Page : 63

One of the cross matching names i.e. same reference numbers, and so possible bride is a Kathleen Donegan.
