Is 886 units an excessive amount of usage for 2 months?
Reason I ask is because of the ridiculous bills that are being sent out.
What is the average consumption for a household.

    Hi davdvn,

    Thanks for your message.

Any figures for average residential usage must be taken only as very general guides, as usage patterns vary widely amongst households. However, with that caveat in place, we calculate that the average is roughly 14 units per day. This works out at 854 per bill (taking 61 days as the average billing cycle), so your figure of 886 would be considered only very slightly above average.

We have a Reduce Your Costs section on our website dedicated to helping customer lower their bills and gain more insight into their usage and overall energy efficiency. The Appliance Calculator is particularly popular (also an iPhone/Android app).

To give you a quick visual on what one unit of electricity can provide, see the following:

If you would like us to have a look at your account and bills in more detail, please feel free to send us a private message with your account details, including your full name, address and contact number for account security.

    Thanks,
    David

Are we talking about 886 KW here or what?

    Hi tnethacker,

When we refer to one unit of electricity, we're referring to one kWh (kilowatt hour). There is a section on our website which details what one unit of electricity and one unit of gas can do for you.

If you have any further questions, please let us know.

    Kind regards,
    Aoife
