Check out the sticky thread above for Irish servers, good place to start :)

BF4 doesn't have platoons support yet, but it's forthcoming.

BF3 wise there's the pre-existing but long full boards.ie one.

The BF3 forum on battlelog has been taken over by BF4 platoons, but there are no "Irish" platoons recruiting, well at least none with any purpose. There are plenty of European ones though. Unless your particularly worried about playing with foreigners, just look for UK/EU based communities.

It all depends on what you are looking for. You have casual, casual+ platoons, military realism, and pure competitive.

Casual. If you are looking to just jump on TS and shout at other members over TS, then there are quite a few casual communities/clans/platoons out there. They are very easy to find, very easy to join, and if you find they aren't a good match for what you are looking for, very easy to leave.

Casual+. There are also casual communities which offer a little more. They have fun on TS but also dip their toes into competitive or organised scrims. Ourselves in Team-Aftershocks (why not) would be an example of that. We would look to run events every 3-4 weeks, trying to get our members to play a little more tactically. For example, we have our first 32v32 internal scrim organised for 3 weeks time, and our first 32v32 external battle planned for 2 weeks after that. We don't care about skill, but every now and then its good to play in a 32 player team that actually has a common goal.

We had 30 members on TS playing BF4 last night (Monday), 5 of which are Irish. Doesn't make us an Irish platoon, but definitely worth consideration.

Military Realism. If you are looking for military realism (the extreme side of the scale) there are a few like FIST and their cast-offs that go mad for that kind of nonsense. They are all structure, all defined roles, orders and the likes. Unless you have some kind of defective personality, or you are american, I'd stay away from that kinda place.

Competitive: If you are looking for more competitive but smaller clans or teams then maybe look at the ESL forums. If you are a quality player (they will check), a team may look to play with you in cups, ladders and practice scrims.

I had already checked that thread before posting, I was wondering if there were any more not listed there.

Ahh for jesus sake. If you just want to be a member of a meaningless group of inactive players, join the Eire platoon.

As Irish and pointless as you can get.
