Have a 5 year old Labrador that has just been diagnosed with Exercise Induced Collapse. I was bringing her for a walk on the beach, and just before we started she can't walk or support herself. Lasts about 15 minutes and then she's fine. It has happened twice within 2 weeks with car journey and walk triggering these symptoms. Vet said if I continued exercise she could die. It's a rare enough disorder but poor dog will be stuck out the back(1/2 acre) from now on. Has anyone come across this disorder ?. Thinking of getting another dog so she won't get depressed ? She is a real family pet and I don't want her nose out of joint with another dog but it will be like a prison to her if she goes no where.

Yep they thought one of mine had it! Ucd sent videos of her to A specialist in America. She is also a lab. She collapses after maybe 15 mins of excercise (and it looks like she is having a heart attack!) and literally needed to be carried home! After loads of tests they diagnosed a heart condition put her on different meds which didn't work. We never really got to the bottom of it as we stopped treatment as the tests were getting more invasive and made her miserable. She can only handle limited excercise and I only let her play ball once a week. She is very lazy and sleeps for majority of day :)
