    Perhaps a thread for social happenings/events/news/gossip is in order for those west of the city.

    Just a few notices i've come across in the last few days:

    KILDIMO CHRISTMAS CRAFT FAIR: At Seven Sisters Pub, Kildimo on Sunday November 10 from 1.30 pm to 5.30 pm “All are very reasonably priced and great value for money” Scented Candles Crochet Jewellery personalised Greeting Cards, Jams Home baking Vintage cake stands, Wooden Toys, Knitting, HerbaLife - Nutritional Products with Free body fat testing and much more.

    TOURNAFULLA CHRISTMAS MARKET: The Christmas Market will take place in Halla Tadhg Gaelach in Tournafulla on Sunday, December 1st, beginning at 1.30. Last year over 800 people attended this event. We will have all the usual stalls with plenty of local produce, artisan foods, handcrafts etc. Santa Claus will be there and you can have your photograph taken with him. While they are waiting for Santa the children will be entertained by a magician and there will also be art work for them to do. So put the date in your diary.

    The meeting of the Rathkeale & District Historical Society: will take place at 8.30pm, on Friday November 8 at the Community Arts Centre Rathkeale. The topic for discussion and the speaker is “Brigands, Broaches and Basins; Vikings and the Ardagh hoard” with Dr. Catherine Swift, Mary Immaculate College, Limerick. All are welcome to attend and admission is free.

    THE JOY OF MUSIC - ADARE: St. Nicholas’ National School invites you to St. Nicholas’ Church, Adare on Friday 8 November at 8.00pm to the The Joy of Music. A musical evening in the company of Owen Gilhooly (baritone), Helen Houlihan (soprano), Irina Dernova (piano and organ) and St. Nicholas’ School Choir. Tickets €10 and Family tickets are available.     NEWCASTLE WEST FILM CLUB: The Cinema Experience returns to Newcastle West on this Friday, November 1. Newcastle West Film Club will present “I Wish”, the story of a family separated by divorce, but not by love. The two sons set out with a plan to reunite their family. It starts at 8pm in The Desmond Complex (rear of fire station). It costs €7 per screening, with refreshments available – back again on December 6.
