decent episode IMO - some tense scenes, plot-lines setup for the remainder of the series, events from past series having unseen repurcusions. Seemed to be fewer pointless cop scenes too. Not mad on the whole Paulie/Siobhan thing but I assume its leading somewhere - possibly he'll find out she's an informer.

    Patrick is a great actor

Patrick, the traveller, is a great actor, for portraying, a traveller.......

    Great range alright :)

    I do like him though

Yeah it is. In a declaration that may see me demodded from this forum, I confess that I've never seen The Wire. And I *STILL* knew about that particular person being killed.

    So there. :p

Thats because Omar stuff has been around the internet since the show began! Omar comin yo!

I sympathise with people who have not seen things like The Wire and that but when a show aired originally over 12 years ago and has gone on to be hugely popular, copied, discussed and dissected for years not to mention the countless internet memes that can pop out of nowhere relating to events in the show its just kinda bad luck for you if its spoilered.

A show like Love/Hate takes a lot of influence from The Wire also so references and comparisons are likely to be found in threads on it.

It would never occur to me to spoiler something from The Wire, I spoiled something myself earlier in the thread and will certainly be more careful in future out of courtesy but I don't think anyone should be vilified for it.

Anyone know what happened to Gavin / Gav (Aaron Heffernan), the cop also known as "muscles" and "Obama"? Shame they seem to have dropped him, anyone know why?

I loved the way they captured the frustration in Potsie's face when he received that penultimate text that Fran had to be clipped, can you imagine whats going through his head, fcuk I have to kill psycho Fran fcuk! I just want to do my time, keep my head down and get to hell out of there.

If you want to get into it, you got to get out of it. (Hawkwind 1982)

When I say series I mean every episode since session 1.

I don't think there have been any other episodes as violent as last nights one.

Sunday's episode was one of the most violent. Along with episode 1 of season 3 I'd say. Honourable mentions would also have to go to the season 1 episode where Hughie killed Martin the traveller and season 4 episode 4 too.

I assume Dean knows if he was arranging the hit for Fran so did he tell Nidge

I'd say he has put two and two together and he knows the traveller told Fran. For now, Nidge has but the traveller issue on the back burner it seems.

the drug scenes were really badly done , so over the top, how many times do we have to see in soap opera/dramas, person takes drugs , goes to top of building , looks over the edge

To be fair if I was in a film cast as a 30 year old retail manager Id still be **** acting, you still have to able to deliver lines and all manner of things that I imagine is involved.

He reminds me of a young Ian McKellen.

His character didn't add anything to it. He seemed way too young and I reckon they decided the whole 'cops messing about' angle was silly so they dropped him.

Have you noticed how the cops this season are a lot more serious than last - no messing about with graffiti and nonsense like that?

Yeah, but you're probably **** at being a retail manager, while Patrick's probably really good at being a traveller. :pac:

Fran is just a great character far better than anything else the show has produced. He is as bad as they come but I can't help feel sorry for him been in prison. It will be a worse show without him when he does go out of it.

Fran is a gangster but he isn't in it for the money, what do ya do with a fella like that?

I always say the sign of a good tv/movie character is if they are quotable, I don't know how many times the OH tells me to shut up, your not Fran :D

I'm assuming the OP was being sarcastic.

The actor who plays Noelie Hughes is a convicted heroin dealer in real life
and I think the actor who plays Glen was in a spot of bother in real life too

One of the gardai is a garda in real life

So why not cast a traveller to play a traveller?

In fairness, Love/Hate has had plenty of scenes where people have taken drugs, had a good time, and suffered no further consequences. They both got up in the morning and wandered off too, I don't think it was particularly badly done.

Patrick the traveller should get an award for his acting up to this point in the series.

If not an award, then at least a Mongan

I reckon that shot of Patrick praying and a child on a memorial card shows that one of nidges children will die by the end.

I'm wondering how the feud can end, Nidge is willing to call it off, but it's Patrick that's sustaining it. Nobody has died, yet, but if Nidge gets Patrick there'll be revenge from his family. My thinking is Warren might get hurt and Patrick well stop for the sake of the children. Of course, then Nidge well want revenge, maybe Warren week just appear at the right moment for Patrick to accept the money instead.

What did that guy say to Nidge at the end and why is it relevant?

He told him about a long-standing grudge between Fran and Noelie Hughes, who is in Mountjoy. (The guy in the car boot said that the feud had reached the point where Fran dug up the body of Noelie's mother and passed on her remains.) If I know anything about gangland warfare (and I've been watching Love/Hate for more than a year now, so read into that what you will), Nidge feels he can confidently approach Noelie with a view to finishing off the job Aido's brother ws supposed to do.

So Dean will probably now tell Nidge about the bone Fran has to pick.

Nidge can easily then frame Fran for the Git murder what with the body buried on his land, Fran goes down for a life stretch. One problem solved.

Going down for life would solve nothing. Activity on the outside is masterminded and controlled from the inside in many cases.
