Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Seriously can you **** off trolling the thread ?

When we get another drubbing lads like you will be back saying that we need new players FFS.

We are playing LATVIA you know

I remember we played the Faroes at home a few months ago and Andorra a few years back under Trap.. Passing, composure and confidence in those games nowhere near the level that it is tonight.. Happy enough with this, but need to keep it in context.

    http://greenscene.me/player-lists/irish-players-in-the-premiership/

    http://eurorivals.net/abroad/irish-players-in-england.html

There are lots there who could be tried. I know Robbie Brady is injured at the moment but there are others. Young Bamford from Chelsea is a great prospect and i'm sure there are others.
Continuing to play the same players who have failed previously is not preparing for the Euros in my opinion. We should be trying loads of young players.
Beating the likes of Latvia 5 nil is not going to tell us anything.

What are going on about? They didn't pick the squad

My eyes are bleeding from your posts, go whinge elsewhere

It's the same ol same ol. That's what i'm saying.
    But rejoice we're beating LATVIA.

    neither link works.
You think MON had time to scout players in the 6 days since he was officially unveiled as manager?
MON didn't pick the squad as he wasn't manager by the deadline.
Bamford is a great prospect but who's to say he wants to declare for Ireland and if he was declared he would have played for the U21's today.
You still haven't named a player who could have been called up for this game.

Nearly from Reid - hope that ignorant old fool back in Italy is watching.

Somehow I doubt it.. he's probably forgotten all about it already.

People can read, you don't need to continually put it in block capitals

and it has been pointed out how we've played similarly poor sides and never shown this endeavour

People can say we should try the youngsters but wins are needed to get the public back on board.

The public has had its interest piqued, we need to win to keep it

well it's all Hunky Dorys in the Aviva now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,797 ✭✭✭✭Francie Barrett

For me, that is why Long should be starting. He can finish, but he has so much better movement and workrate than Keane.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,954 ✭✭✭✭_Kaiser_

great play and finish - you can see the difference in attitude. It's like a different team.

Also great to see MON making the most of his subs to give as many as possible a run-out/see how they do.

Walters has made a big impact too. For me, Walters > McClean.

Are there genuinely 4 centre forwards and Reid on the pitch?

Walters has made a big impact too. For me, Walters > McClean.

I agree Hes got much better composure, but it would be ideal if we could find someone who plays there in a natural position. McClean seems to overrun the ball far too often and his final pass is lacking

some old same old, eh tayto lover?

Yeah. Hope we're not drawn in Germany's group.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,133 ✭✭✭Stevecw

Its nice to see this. Some lovely football, a 3-0 lead. Weak opponents, but so were so many we played with Trap where we hoofed it all day long. Keeper passing it out to full backs is great to see

Subs have made a big impact, they're knocking the ball around quicker and slicing open Latvia at will now.

    What?

McLean has been excellent tonight IMO. Walters is not a winger.

    Neither of those links work.
I guess you just aren't gonna name any of these numerous young lads who are ready for the step up to international football and have shown enough to prove to management that they should have be starting tonight.

Walters plays most of his football for Stoke at right wing.

Have to disagree with this, find Long so frustrating, love his workrate but his decision making/final piece is missing for me.

A chance falls to one of our strikers, i want it to be Robbie everytime

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,559 ✭✭✭✭yabadabado

Brady and McGeady are our best options on the wings.
    Mcclean named MOTM

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,631 ✭✭✭✭Hank Scorpio

McClean motm is a strange one, hard to pick someone out for it though

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,133 ✭✭✭Stevecw

Even that pass alone...that's why Green shouldn't be part of any future Ireland squad

Good start this for the MON era.

Is Brady our best set piece taker? Think in international football set pieces are so so important

I said we should be trying the young lads. I didn't say they were going to be good enough but we won't know until they're tried. I gave you the list of every Irish lad in English football by the way.
Maybe you think the lads out there tonight are good enough and should be there for the Euros. Did we not learn anything in Poland?

Come on, he was delighted every time they scored, he knows his role he held back and let Martin do his job tonight.

Stop looking for things that aren't there.
