    Presume you're with Quinn.

You can still get done for non display for a Valid insurance disc.

With no nonsense ,I'd just pop my own cert into the car..

That's technically displaying an incorrect cert (As the reg of your personal car is on it) and you can get done worse for that!

Not that I am thinking of doing this but surely you still have to pay a full insurance premium for the person that "owns" the car and you as the primary driver are only covered third party.

I'm with RSA and I can drive other cars fully comp. I must check if the other cars needs tax/NCT/insurance.

But you're displaying the insurance with which you are covered under?

A friend of mine was brought to court for displaying a false insurance cert, got done and all! He had the extension, but shouldn't have an incorrect disc in the window.
Maybe bring your cert with you in the glove box.

But you're not insured on the car your driving and the registration on the disc would be different. That's why trade insurance had a name on it rather than a reg, because its the person that's insured rather than a particular vehicle.

Just bring your cert with you in the glovebox, and don't park in town, or get stopped by the gardai.

Hit a checkpoint in the carina yesterday, no insurance cert in the window. (I had paid for the insurance and been on cover etc but no disc/cert)
Just means you have to produce at a garda station in 10 days.

There is no way this story is true!

What did the person get "done" for?

Were they asked to produce the insurance cert?

If the story is as you described they would've just been asked to produce the cert as Cleveland was above.
