Balls. No sign of a repeat during the next week, either.

Why is it some things get repeated non stop, and the one thing you want to see and miss...

Fingal County Council are certainly not competent to be making decisions about the most important piece of infrastructure on the island. They need to stick to badly designed cycle lanes and deciding on whether Mrs Murphy can have her kitchen extension.

It's on Netflix if you have it.

Nope. I'll just have to keep an eye out.

Yes, 4 episodes according to the BBC Four website, however only two are showing on IMDb and Wikipedia, "Carousel" and "Amore", with two more being filmed starting in April, so those are really going to be hot off the press.

    Jonathan Meades is back! :)

10.30, unusually it's not the built environment he is tackling but words, namely jargon.

The 8 part Welsh crime drama "Hidden" starts on Saturday 9th June at 9pm.

It was originally shown on S4C in January as "Craith"with the option of English subtitles but this is a bi-lingual version.

What did people think of tree first episode of Hidden? I liked it, it looks like it may have the potential to be just as dark as Hinterland. The only thing that's different is that there seem to be far more Welsh only segments than in Hinterland. Maybe they saved a bit on production costs by not having to film as many segments twice.

Wasn't it 3 times. All English, all Welsh and bi lingual, or didn't they do an all Welsh version?

Oh well, give me an easy life and a peaceful death.

Some scenes were filmed twice, once all English, and once all Welsh, others only once in Welsh. There are no scenes as far as I remember where both languages were spoken.

I'm enjoying it, it's very French and clearly mines Solaris and other films that emphasise the psychological.

Danny Baker is delving into World Cup lore at 8 PM tonight.

Am a bit underwhelmed to be honest though episodes are fairly short and snappy so intriguied enough to stick with it at the same time. Doesn’t look like they’d a very generous budget so would allow a bit for that.

They made it for a bit over a million euro which is fantastically cheap for something that actually looks pretty decent.

    Coming later this year.

54 Hours. A 4 hour limited series is based on a 1988 hostage crisis that turned into a human tragedy and a police and media fiasco.
The Gladbeck crisis was one of the biggest crime cases in postwar German history. The series dramatizes the events following a bank raid gone wrong. The robbers took several hostages and, while being pursued by police and tracked by the media over several days, traveled across several West German state lines. The ensuing murder and carnage unfolded in a media circus that saw reporters interview hostages while they were still being held at gunpoint. The debacle ultimately led to new rules governing media coverage, and the police were accused of bungling their handling of the case.

That should be interesting. I remember the case well. The role of the media was very controversial at the time. There was huge public outrage then.

Mark Kermode's Secrets of Cinema starts on Tuesday at 9pm.

First up romcoms, followed by heist movies, coming-of-age stories, science fiction and horror.
Mark will focus on a single well-loved genre in each episode. He’ll examine a wide range of films and uncover the key elements they all share, while showing how film-makers have put on their own spin to keep these genres thriving – and to keep audiences coming back for more.

Whether he’s demonstrating how to stage the perfect 'meet cute' in a rom-com or to pull off the perfect bank robbery, to create a shocking jump scare in a horror movie or a convincing science fiction future, Mark will help you look at your favourite films with fresh eyes and open your mind to new cinematic treasures.

If this isn't seven shades of awesome, I'll be crushed. His Film Review slot on Beeb news is great. Esther McCarthy should be made watch it, until her general level of woeful drops a little.
