Why is this fella getting paid 13 grand?

Or sorry let me rephrase that. Why did this man decide himself that he was entitled to the money?

What has he done this year, that previous entertainment officers have seemingly been unable to do, to justify his pay?

Furthermore, why does UCC even need a Union entertainment officer. Clubs/Pubs will give out free cheap drink vouchers whether he is there or not.

    Waste of funds.

Himself Podge and Kirby, Im no huge fans of.

Anne, Gavin and Dave seem to be on the ball and earning their money.

Podge and Kirby are in America for the week on behalf of the UCCSU. I'd love to know whos paying for that one.

Wow- university president has been paid over quarter a mill salary in recent years and you`re concerned with this? lol at thinking free vouchers is enough as well- entertainment is required to attract more students, no one wants to attend a boring college

Yea theres a ton of trips abroad that cost a fortune- world debating championships springs to mind recently- wouldn`t mind sending a couple but they sent a lot to that one and the figures quoted to me were just absurd.

Where did you here that he's getting paid. It's only a part time position so he shouldn't be getting paid. The only paid SU positions are the
President, Deputy President, VP Education, VP Welfare, VP Commercial & Communications & Societies President. As for society trips away. I do think it's unfair that philosoph and law get to people and spend thousands doing it, but all other societies can't travel abroad at all. Philosophy often spends the whole yearly budget for smaller societies on one event alone.

It wasn't part of his pre election promise that he would avail of the 13,000 grand though.

It was in the Student Union paper a few months back. Snake like move.

None of them deserve that kind of money, the SU and USI have always been a talking shop for careerists and chancers, and I can tell you every single one of them from Kirby to Gavin are no different, they use and abuse people to get ahead. I heard that your man Gavin even came out in support of Fianna Fáil affliated Tom Lenihan the TCD President after he cheated in his exams, pretending that it was depression was the reason why when he was just trying to chance his arm. They are all in cohoots with one another trying to get their noses in the trough and rub shoulders with the elite and influential, using platforms like education and equality to do it.

Student Unions and the USI are the biggest waste of spaces in this country, fill of caviar socialist, privileged brats pretending to be concerned about students and young people, in reality they could not give a flying f*ck. Eamon Gilmore was one, that says it all.

The SU ents officer gets paid because of a referendum about 2-3 years ago so yano there you go.

The position is responsible for a lot of money that comes into the union and he works hard at it so it's well deserved.

    13 grand??? I heard it was 15.5k
Seems like this guy hasn't earned his stripes yet. I've seen him around the place chatting but not working. Thats our money paying for him.
If you ask me its time the Union stops wasting money! I didn't even like Freshers week.

13k? He doesn't even have an office ffs. He's probably just floating about UCC drinking anyway for free.

Firstly I'm friends with Gav and I've never heard him support Tom until after the result asking Trinity students to back him after they kept him on. Secondly Tom isn't a member of Fianna Fáil, he openly attacked them in the paper on a regular basis and why would Gavin, a Shinner back a member of Fianna Fáil? Finally, Gavin is going to be a teacher when he is done and emigrate.

It's the SU not exactly the West Wing.....

On the Issue of wages, Ask Podge about it and don't hide behind Boards.ie to voice your opinions kid ;)
