Eircom Evision Box won't work through AV amp

Not sure if this is the right place to post this but anyway.
I got evision installed about 2 weeks ago but there is one major problem it won't work through my av amp.

I connect everything through an av amp, Sky HD (which evision was replacing), xbox 360, blu ray & Netgear Media player. All of these devices work no problem through this amp. Now when I connect the Evision box into any of the HDMI inputs on the amp it goes into a continuous reboot. It switches on Eircom loading screen shows and then it immediately reboots and keeps doing the same thing indefinitely.

Once I disconnect the HDMI cable from the amp and connect through the TV it works straight away, box boots and menu comes on screen. The issue seems to be that the evison box cannot tell the amp what it is and so it sends it into this powering on\off cycle. Now I know the problem is not the amp as every other piece of equipment I have works no problem through HDMI.

I know I could connect just the audio from the evision box to the amp but then I still have to switch inputs on the TV and then a different input on the amp for that to work and believe me it's not worth the hassle showing the wife how to do that.

Anyone any ideas what I can do here? I have tried all the various settings on the amp, hdmi control on\off, Arc and everything else I could think of but nothing works

    The amp is a Sony STR-DH810 7.1, HDMI 1.4

    Thanks

I'm not familiar with the eircom eVision box, but what you're describing is symptomatic of a HDMI handshaking problem which possibly would need a firmware upgrade to fix. There was an issue with the Humax Freesat PVR a number of years ago with certain AV amps which resulted in just a green screen on view. A firmware upgrade sorted the issue.
There is an outside chance that a different HDMI cable may sort the problem, so try swapping one of your other leads. But you should be complaining loudly to eircom to come and sort the problem as they really need to have a reliable box which connects to all manner of AV amps if they are going to make a go of eVision.

Thanks for the reply. The first thing I did was get onto Eircom asking about a firmware upgrade for the box as I figured it was some sort of handshake problem alright. They said they would go and try to find out more info, that was nearly 2 weeks ago. I just thought someone else must be having the same issue so posted it here.

These boxes are made by a French company Netgem and there is nothing on their site about this particular box (8000 series) not working with AV amps. I also emailed Netgem directly to see if the issue had been reported but got no response. The first thing I tried was different HDMI cables. I was using 1.4 so tried a 1.3 and the same issue was still there. My amp is 1.4 and everything else works no problem so I knew it wasn't the cables

I have posted this is the ask eircom section of boards also so we will see if they come back on that. Thanks again.
