Hello , I was in Easons last year and I bumped into this elderly man with a long white beard. He commented on something in the papers and we got talking , he seemed to be well educated and said he was a professor ( I have no way of knowing for sure obviously ). He talked about everything from the origin of the English to diet. I was just thinking about him today and I was wondering if anybody else has encountered him there or even heard of his name?.

He could be retired 20 years. Professor of what?

I think it was history , that was what he kept returning to in the conversation also. He maintained that the Irish were a Hamitic race out of the Middle East and the English were a Germanic tribe called the Hinglis who had a very limited vocabulary.

Have you contacted universities and colleges to see if they have/had someone of that name on their staff? That would be the first place I'd look.

When I'm old I'm going to strike up conversations with youngsters and claim that I invented the internet.
