Curious case of the London slave women

    Background
    An interesting case, it is the reverse of the usual scenario around the world, whereby native citizens hold a foreign national in servitude by confiscating their passport and telling them they will be arrested as an illegal foreigner if they try to venture outside.

    So what is the nature of the "invisible handcuffs" used in this case?
    It was mentioned on a radio report today that some kind of religious control may have been exercised.
    Isolation and Indoctrination of children is religion's oldest trick, but as the facts emerge, it will be interesting to see whether the adults were of full intelligence, and how such complete mind control could be applied against them. And whether the "captors" were cynical manipulators, or whether they actually believed they were on a mission.....

    Reports seem to be suggesting that it was a "left-wing commune"...which I take to mean some kind of communist/socialist utopia that missed the target completely.
