What would a Post-Apocalyptic USA look like?

    I've been thinking about what the USA would turn into if the infrastructure collapsed and lawlessness arose amid the post-apocalypse...

    The US Border regions with Mexico are a hotbed of conflict with the drugs gangs and in the city-urban sprawls of NY, NJ, CT, Maryland and east Pennsylvania?

    Plus gangs in most major cities will be rampaging about.

    After everything died down after 3 - 6 months what would it be like in Post-Apocalyptic USA?

    Cities will probably turn into absolute hellholes. Places with a lot of desert / drought will probably end up abandoned. The huge corporate farms will probably all go titsup so this will free up a lot of land for survivors to use.

    The USA has a good bit of nice quality land, not too hot or too cold, water nearby, a good few trees around the place so has the potential to keep a decent amount of survivors going to slowly rebuild the place. Drugs will become legal and with most of the population dead there will be very little left to fight over

    The USA is big enough that much of it would survive to varying degrees
    You'd get some die-off due to civil unrest and those who remain alive due to various medical interventions etc

    The modern ways of life might largely slough off as they grew increasingly unsustainable, but civilization and the human spirit is hardier than we give it credit for

    The TV shows Jericho and Revolution both offers a good glimpse of post-apocalyptic USA, it ain't pretty.

    So will pretty much everything with the lack of a police force and judiciary.
