    I was wondering if I cold be given a bit of clarity on what the story is.

    Im getting directed towards youtube by the DW website and seeing mini episodes.

    Where does this lead into the main story of the Day of the Doctor?

    Is it before or after. Is it the next doctor who?

    Its all very confusing and all over the place.

    Its not all over the place at all. The Doctor is the 8th Doctor who only starred in the movie in 1996 as a once off.

    The point of the episode was to show how he regenerated and where John Hurt came from. It also clears up in which order he came.

    It's a way of shoehorning John Hurt as "The War Doctor" into the timeline. Without that little introduction, there's huge plot holes about him.
