How much space required on sides of LED TV?

I'm considering getting a 55" LED TV from Samsung.

The issue is that I have a TV storage system design for 50". The 55" will leave approx 1cm on either side of the TV (although it will have 40cm+ above the TV).

Apart from making it difficult to access the side of the TV if I needed are there ventilation issues if the side of the TV is confined like this?

My other Samsung has ventilation slots on the top, so I imagine this is similar.

    Hi Mr Cheez,

The issue with a small space at the sides of the TV is connections. The TV doesn't really require a huge amount of ventilation at the sides. All the heat tends to go up so above is a lot more important. LED models don't really generate a huge amount of heat. The new LED models all have the connections at the side, so getting in to plug or unplug cables or USB memory stick etc, may be difficult.

    Hope that helps.
