Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I know, I know - there will new and different service problems

But way few things to go wrong though - wheels / tyres, shocks & chain. Rest of the issues would be stuff like my console app crashed / new update is slow etc etc :)

As soon as these bikes become affordable (to me), I am buying one.

An elec. moto won the class of the Pikes Peaks Hillclimb in Colorado recently. In the thin air of high altitude (9k - 14k feet) it had a big advantage.

An elec. bike? Just think - no more messy oil changes, or tuning fuel mixtures, or "what oil" discussions, or worn cam chains and bent valves, leaking exhausts etc etc. (I know, I know - there will new and different service problems )

In fairness, it was the guy riding the elec bike who won the pikes pike. Incidentally he won it last year too, on a multistrada, and in a quicker time.

    https://www.mission-motorcycles.com/r#buy

So far they start at $29k - but imagine when Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, Ducati etc start making electric bikes - the technology will greatly advance, and the prices will come right down, interesting times ahead!

I was going to quote your "when there is no more petrol" post, I just had visions of you running out of juice on to of the gap and trying to hook up your phone battery to get another few meters:-)
I think there would be an element of the late night borderline minger about it, we would all laugh, slag you, then quietly ask what she was like.

I only drove a quiet bike for a month or two, but it just isn't right and artificial noise is a bit like the poor sad fcuks with turbo dump valve sounds being played out through speakers on mammys car.

I do like the idea of the electric power delivery curve though.

I thought the Mission was just a showcase vehicle. Where did you order it in Ireland?

True, it wouldn't sound "cool", but if it worked as well as they say, it wouldn't be an issue for me.
Less maintanance, cheap to fuel, more power, better power delivery all outweigh the sound.
Outright price, availability, dealer network, battery performance in the real world (not what the manufacturers say), and battery life are all concerns for me though.

True, but fake sounds are wrong imho.

...which is about half the modded cars & bikes on the road as well tbh.....more 'show' than 'go' for most. A drainpipe exhaust does not an F1 car make :):p

Well, "engine" sounds generated through a player and which come from a speaker then. Jasus, pedantic central around here.

Isn't there a sports hatch which puts fake engine noise through the speakers? :D

I think I seen that on TV.

Most 'performance' exhausts out there have been 'tuned' and not for performance if you get my meaning, lots of bikes (and even more cars) try to sound like something they're not.

Ouch, 40k dollars. A Telsa S is how much?

  • Moderators, Motoring & Transport Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 12,778 Mod ✭✭✭✭Zascar

They will get a lot cheaper pretty quick. $40k is €30k. Not that far off some of the other high end bikes. Plus your fuel costs are cut by about 90% - and very little maintenance also.

Just bought it for my daughter there recently and read it myself, some great biking imagery
