Longs best assests are his pace, heading ability & running himself into the ground
he is a decent enough striker but at nearly 27 he isnt worth buying as i doubt other aspects of his play will improve greatly

Shane Long would simply not fit our system or style of play.

Hes an honest player, runs the channels but also has a bit of an inflated opinion of himself aswell.

borinis head is equally inflated, long is a good player but needs to be playing regularly, LFC is not the place for him.

Eriksen & Chadli look very poor tbh

Problem isn't the players, the problem it seems is V-B. He is publically criticising players, and not just individually. He is speaking out in public against the medical team, even suggesting they should explain to the press what the problem was with Lloris, and various other frankly bizarre things he has said and done. All fine behind closed doors, but in public it's very counter productive. That's all fine when you are winning well, but when you lose the matches they have lost, conceding a lot, then people start to ask valid questionns. They also have their best left back out on loan and are forced to play their best CB, vertonghen, out their. In a WC year he isn't going to be happy with that.

I reckon he is a few bad results away from loosing the respect and attention of the dressing room, big few months ahead for AVBs tenure at the lane. I suspect he'll get word from above in terms of what he says in public, interesting to see how he reacts.

Has he? Never heard much from him even when he was on the bench at West Brom. Besides I'd prefer a striker to have an inflated opinion of himself rather than one who is scared to get on the ball.

I never advocated buying him. Just that I didn't see much evidence of an over inflated ego.

Hence his trip north to Sunderland, where he isnt getting game time either:(

yep his people skills seem way off. One thing that strikes me is his lack of a plan b. When they can't break teams down they don't have much options which is an oversight especially when you have spent that much in one transfer window. He brought on adeybiour on sunday, a player he said iirc "would never play for spurs again" a good manager would have tried to get the best out of him until he had definately departed. If the don't sign a striker in January with goals in him they probably woll be in for a very long season and avb will be on the bread line.

Borini has never showed anything other than a guy who will work his ass off. He was marked as a Kuyt type player by many on here previously.

No, but people seem to think that he's young and he will improve. For some reason, I always get the impression from people that they regard Long as a player who is still learning, and still has a higher potential.

He doesn't. This, quite really, is it. In fact, its probably only going to go down from here as 90% of his game is his athleticism and ability to work the latter third of the pitch.

For the record I rate Borini. However, I believe himself and Aspas will be gone in the summer.

Yeah, does seem that it may very well be the case.

A lot depends on whether we get CL football or not and need the squad for cups etc. Can't imagine either are on high wage, and both are handy squad additions at the least.

    Breaking news....Hyppia wants Rodgers sacked:

"There are two special places for me; I was at Liverpool for 10 years so that would be great.

"That doesn't mean it's a target - but it would be something special.

"And I come from Finland - and the Finnish national coach is the biggest job there. It's also not a target but it would be great."

AVB is starting to come off as a bit of a spoofer in the Hodgson-esque way. I thought he might have learned his lessons at Chelsea, but it looks like he hasn't thankfully.

I agree that if results continue to be poor - he will end up imploding.

In fairness I would love Sami to be at the club right now . He was a great player and also one of the best bargain buys of all time .
Would love to see him back at the club in some capacity .

The opposing view to that is ...
    spent €107m
lost 4 games out of 12 [including 2 games against top 4 rivals (2 draws against top 4 rivals also) ] and no win in 3
scraped victories against perceived whipping boys (teams which those around them are beating for fun)

Levy would be mad to get rid, but it's not beyond bounds of possibility if they lose against Utd

There's a few ways of looking at it.

Bale pretty much single handedly carried them through last season.

They've been sh1t all season and only for a few soft penalties they'd be a lot worse off.

Signings to date have not inspired.

I can imagine we could suffer a similar fate when we lose Suarez.

Do people realise that Spurs actually have 3 points more this season than they did after 12 games last year?

Now what happens when they start to click?

Lets not lose sight of the task ahead of us. Monumental effort still required to finish ahead of them, and two from United, Arsenal, City, Chelsea, and Everton.

If I remember correctly, bale didn't kick off till mid December last season.

Spurs aren't the same without bale, they've just bought a load of alright players, m

Don't you mean if they start to click. We have not really clicked either but the difference is we are scoring they are not, when goals are that hard to come by the desire to score can be more detrimental than anything.

I would like to see Aspas given a chance up front before we consider buying a player who probably isn't better than him.

I predicted that Aspas would have little positive effect on our team, but to be fair to him he hasn't played a single match in his favoured position yet.

Considering we're playing a lot of matches with 2 strikers, and with inevitable knocks and resting needed for Suarez and Sturridge then Aspas should get a chance to prove himself at some stage this season, even if it's just a cup match.

Long would be an option if we didn't already have CF backup, but in Aspas and Borini I think we have 2 players who are on about par with him and possibly better.

Yeah but around this time last season, Super Bale kicked into action. They ain't got him now.

Shane Long is a 1/4 striker, not near good enough for Liverpool.

Re Spurs, as bad as they are they are only 4 points behind us. 2 game swing. Even after letting in 6 goals last week they still have a better defensive record this season. They just cant score for shít

If Shane Long was where he is now but also 21 with room to improve he'd be worth having a go on.

As it is, every now and again he puts in an immense performance but is mostly terrible.
