I'm looking for suggestions for a deciduous tree, with mature height of 25-30 feet, tapering to peak and quite wide at about 8 feet from the ground.

Something suitable for planting in a kerb really but dont want it to block out too much light..

    Thanks

Will try and get a picture but basically its for a kerb, grass is approximately 4 foot wide between road and 5-6 foot path. The path runs along a 6 foot wall with a two foot trellis on top

A fig tree (Ficus carica) would be an interesting tree to plant, unusual foliage and uncommon. Probably only rarely ripen figs though, but would make a cracking ornamental shrub or small tree. Would grow in a small area of soil by a kerb too.

Sweet Chestnut Castanea sativa or Lime Tilia cordata or for good autumn colour Tilia henryana.
