I have no idea if she actually did drugs or not, nor would I care in the least if she did. To each their own.

But what I do find highly suspect is the whole situation with the assistants that were brought to court for fraud. They were first charged with it a year ago, well before any of the husband stuff popped up in the media. They mentioned nothing of her drug use at the time in their witness statements.

If she was taking drugs daily and she knew the assistants knew about it then why in the world would she ever try to have them charged with fraud. Surely she would have known they would out her about the drug use and her career would be very negatively effected by it.

It just doesn't make sense. It was a year before the assistants mentioned anything about the drugs, conveniently shortly after the whole wife beating thing came to light.

The whole thing is very suspect.

Fraud of 300k is a lot more serious than somebody pointing the finger and saying you're into drug taking.

I mean she's a tv cook with a largely male following and a famous father, she's not an outspoken anti-drugs Tory MP.

To hell with flouride, if cocaine helps you look like that at 53, they should be putting it in the drinking water.

These "I'd do such and such and such and such to her" posts never get old, like at all.

    ....or tired or predictable

She may do coke but she does not look like someone who is an addict, therefore i'd say that this is just public oneupmanship....you can't be a daily coke user and look like that it's impossible...

What sword did she live by? She was a TV chef, who injected a bit of sensuality into it. What am I missing?

She lived by being a public figure.

She married a Saatchi. A man like that is not going to play nice.

I think the person Femme_Fatale was responding to said something like.. [she labled herself a goddess, live by the sword] etc., when it was actually "the media" who called Nigella a goddess, and from what I've read she was not comfortable with the title.

Cryptic stuff. She obviously didn't marry Saatchi knowing things would turn out as they did. Being a public figure in and of itself = living by the sword?

But yeah wealth, diet, not having to worry about normal things would have an affect on how an older person would look. The queen for example - what do you think she'd wake up on a Monday morning and worry about?!

What her husband might say next !

Saatchi is king of an advertising empire. You don't that way from being kind. She decided to call herself a goddess, she no doubt benefited from having a husband with such clout. And now she will be destroyed by it. The British press elevated and destroys. She entered the game and married straight into it.

You honestly think if you marry a man like that and then piss him off he will be nice to you?

Yes, her mother was from a very wealthy family.

Yes, her mother was from a very wealthy family.

But she must have also made a lot of money herself from books, TV etc.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,449 ✭✭✭Call Me Jimmy

She must have a lot of money because she hasn't accepted an offer of A Night-In Nigella. The money (and coke) she'd be offered for that would make her wealthy all over again.

I... honestly don't and never indicated that either. What's the point of saying that though? She shouldn't have married him in case he got pissed off with her? Strong bang of "She brought it on herself". Not sure she decided to call herself a goddess either.

When she married him, she hardly saw into a crystal ball that all this was going to happen; no matter how ruthless he is. None of us know anything about their relationship before it soured, so stuff about her marrying him for his wealth is entirely speculation. They could have loved each other.

He's responsible for his behaviour, not her.

Wasn't one of her first books called "How to be a Domestic Goddess"???

One of her cook books was called How to be a Domestic Goddess but it was clearly a reference to culinary skill. It was a hardly an across the board standard she held herself. Intact if you watch her show, outside of the cooing and making eyes at the camera, she goes to pains to paint herself as "ordinary" talking about eating with her fingers and getting up in the middle of the night to left over chicken legs etc.

    Sure.

But he is a Saatchi. It's like marrying Donald Trump and expecting not to get slammed when things don't go his way.

Men that rich and powerful don't get that way from being kind.

I don't see too many other 'how to' books out there that claim to know the path to becoming a God/Goddess... & this 'ordinary' thing, that you actually say 'she goes to pains to paint herself as "ordinary"', I'm not sure what I can say about that.

Anyway, my point is that it wasn't a tag that the media or others came up with 'out of the blue', which I thought was obvious.

I wonder will Nigella be required to answer questions about her, ahem, consumption habits at the trial? Puts her in a pretty invidious position if there's any truth at all in Saatchi's claims I'd say...

Where is there any indication that she didn't expect it, and what exactly is your point?

Having read the story in the paper today, I suspect her husband may be flinging some sh*t her way before their impending divorce.

so that what the big row in the cafe was about, all about coke, did she refuse him some, did he refuse her some, did the maids refuse them both, did she refuse the maids, did she refuse him the maids, some refusals here:eek: or there:cool:

It's payback time for Saatchi, he and his brother foisted the Wicket Witch on England and Europe.

The brothers from Baghdad were virtually unknown when their brilliant ad campaign rocketed Margaret Thatcher into power. Ivan Fallon looks back

There's a couple hundred across a variety of genres, including multiple cooking books, on amazon. Your personal lack of knowledge of them does not a convincing argument make.

Even if there were a couple hundred, & I'd really like to see some evidence of that, then that is still quite a rare thing (given there are say 250,000 'how to' books or so out there)... & anyone who wrote such a book (say, for example, How to be a Haskell Programming God) would want to expect that their God-ness would be spoken about, most likely not in an altogether 'respectful' fashion.

    Also:

Anyway, my point is that it wasn't a tag that the media or others came up with 'out of the blue', which I thought was obvious.

Nice use of 'does not a convincing argument make', especially combining it with a reference to my 'personal lack of knowledge', by the way... I hope it made you feel sexy.
