Decent Mini/Micro HiFi

Hi Guys,

I am looking for an advice on any decent Micro HiFi. It will be bedroom located, CD, USB, DAB radio, and Internet conection for use of Iternet radio(preferebly wireless). It doesn't needs to be hi spec brand or 2013 award winner.

Unfortunately there is a particular unit that I would recommend which does happen to be the What Hifi system of the year.

It's the Marantz MCR610 and it's absolutely stunning. Priced at £499.95

This has Aiplay, Cd player, Spotify, internet radio, FM radio, USB port x 2 (1 front, 1 back), remote control app for android and iphone, 2 x 60 watts, optical digital input for TV use etc, and this system both sounds and looks amazing.

Pair this up with a good pair of speakers and it really shines. The BX2's from Monitor audio or the Focal 705's are a brilliant match.

There are lots of other options, but let me know if this is above or below budget.

That's what I did not include is budget. I am thinking to not go over 300. I do not know how realistic it will be.
But MA BX2 sounds as good option to me. I already have floor standees BX6 and they play fabulous.

Please try to find something suitable...

To bring the system closer to your budget how about the Onkyo CRN755 paired up with the Dali Zensor 1s at £349.95.

If you wanted to match the Onkyo up with the BX2s that would come in at £429.95.

Unfortunately for a £300 budget including Monitor Audio BX2 ( which are £249 on their own) that is a really tight budget for the features you are looking for - I know we often do a system discount when you are buying a system including speakers - but at £300 to include BX2, DAB, Streaming, USB and CD, even we're not that good!

I do have a suggestion though, why dont you ignore the streaming / internet radio ability and instead invest in a bluetooth streamer like the Harman Kardon BTA10 - this would allow you to select a wider range of kit at a lower budget without restricting your choice to exclusively Streaming devices - http://www.richersounds.com/product/wireless-streaming-accessories/harman-kardon/bta10/harm-bta10 Then you could stream your internet radio via any smart phone or tablet - and of course you could stream your music collection as well - this would open up systems like the DM39 or the Yamaha CRX550 which are really excellent systems but not quite as expensive as some of their streaming stable mates?

What if I reconsider my budget than to cap 400 and switch from BX2 to something like QA2010i?

Am looking a mini or micro system, no speakers needed, but must have CD/DAB /(DAB+?) and some means of streaming, presumed Bluetooth via smart phone is cheaper than networked or DLNA.

Have you anything that would do this sub £200? Think there's an Onkyo and Pioneer system on the RS UK site but no sign on Belfast?

I'll match that price no problem - but I'll do better than that - I'll actually include the fab Monitor audio BX2 in the package at the same price - £449.95 - I'll do 4 mtrs of 105 strand decent cable with the package as well to get you started. I'm not sure exceptional will ship to Ireland at that price - but I cant check now as they are closed - but Hey, we'll beat the price anyway!

We have the CEOL available in either White or Black from stock and the BX2 are available in Walnut or Black - the Zensor ( if you were bonkers and wanted them over the BX2) are available in black.

If you wanted a matching pair of small speakers we can also do the Monitor Audio New Radius in Piano Black or Piano White which perfectly match the Ceol - in the package they would be an additional £59 - so £509.95 - have a look at them here:

Hi Jan, I have checked with Exceptional and they can only ship to Ireland if your card is 3D secured....so not sure if that's a problem but they will charge £17 to ship that package to Ireland.

Which system would you like to go for and I'll check if I can do the plugs etc ?
