Did anyone else not yet get a cancellation email??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,863 ✭✭✭bromley52

I raised a ticket today with pixmania and the response was that once they get notified of the cancellation by the seller, pixmania will issue the refund. Even though I got an email of the cancellation, pixmania have not received any yet.

Iv heard nothing at all from anyone, And I have €160 worth of stuff ordered! hopefully will get sorted

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 67 ✭✭soulphish

I have €304 worth. €304 which I couldn't really afford in the first place. Need that money to come soon.

I emailed First4Technology last night, expecting that they might reply today, but nothing.

I would suggest each person open a 'customer care request' \ ticket for each order place as I imagine there will be a long list of refund requests.

Once you log on, choose 'Contact us' on the left of the page.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,734 ✭✭✭zarquon

In fairness, the chances were extremely high that refunds were to be required. I had no problem chancing €30 odd euro and wait for a refund but people who spent hundreds of EURO on parts were just being daft! It's even more ridiculous if people could not afford to have the money held up. There is a high chance that the refunds and paypal disputes might not be resolved this side of Christmas therefore unless the seller autorefunds a lot of people will have their money held up. Anyone that spent a small fortune on the misprices is a fool. A lot of money in limbo for very greedy people during the Christmas period is a good lesson for them.

I sent a paypal dispute. The money shouldnt have been taken until they confirmed the order was going through.

Every single bargain alert like this goes the same way:

OP - Hey folks - this is cheap, looks like a misprice but sure try it.
Poster A - There's no way they'll honour that (but places order anyways just in case)
    Poster B - I ORDERED 50!
Poster C - Price is back to normal now.
Poster A - My order was cancelled.
Poster D, E, F et al - It was all your fault poster B. Otherwise that major multi-national corporation would have honoured our orders of a very expensive item for a mere a fraction of the cost just to save face with some cheeky customers despite making a chronic loss on the entire batch.

Dont forget Poster B: "What! My funds are innaccessible. I need a refund urgently as i can't afford to be without the funds as i'm broke. That's why i ordered a hundred as i thought i could sell everything on adverts/ebay to finally become rich"

LMAO at anyone who spent hundreds of euro (or even thousands) they now have to do without until refunds are processed which will take a few weeks with paypal disputes. The seller is doing nothing wrong by holding the funds to the last minute to earn some interest considering that the funds are from those who tried to pull a quick one on the seller.

I'm a grinch for not feeling sorry for people who ordered excessive amounts of the mispriced parts in the hopes of massive profiteering and who now whinge about needing their refunds asap?

If that's your definition of a grinch, then i think you'll find the whole world is mostly full of grinches.

Poster B does not like honest grinches!

I love the reaction when a few people try to get an upper hand on a massive commercial business, we are suddenly scum.

But when its the other way around and businesses do it to everyone else, no one cares!?

Wish I had've purchased them all through PayPal. Getting a chargeback from my bank is a pain in the arse. Will wait it out until Mon.

You're assuming First4Technology are a massive commercial business. They are a 3rd party seller for pixmania. Unless you've looked at their accounts you have no idea what sort of turnover or revenue they have.

No one is really bothered too much by someone trying to get a good deal. It's the whingeing afterwards by people when the misprices are not honoured that's annoying. Normally this entails "i know my rights" "i had a contract" "i'm calling joe duffy" , "i need my refund yesterday", etc This is the part that gets on peoples nerves.

Luke how are u going about getting a chargeback?? Iv contacted pixmania about it and they said contact first4technologies, they still have not replied, what are our options considering we didn't use PayPal?

I used PayPal, opened a claim and I can escalate it on the 7th.
PixMania emailed me saying they would contact the seller but the order still says confirmed under my account. Wish I could do a chargeback but I've no clue how to.

You only apply for chargeback next month! It's not possible to do chargeback in 30 days! not allowed anywhere..

Chargeback can be requested by your CC issuer! You will be asked to provide a lot information for chargeback.

Since the payment has been settled (already taking from your CC account). So the best option would be wait for a refund from the merchant!

They can do refund in 3 days! but I guess if you are lukcy, you can get the refund in 10 days, otherwise would be next month! as they would like to keep your money longer in their account.

Pretty dodgy response! I pity anyone who didn't use paypal (rookie mistake ;) ) A lot of people might have to talk to the banks and request chargebacks which will be a right pain as you need to prove everything to them

When I asked whats the story with my refund i got that answer:

    "Dear Lukasz,

    Thank you for your email.

Pixmania control all payments and refunds. We are not paid for any orders until they are delivered.

On receipt your order was checked and immediately refunded by us, Pixmania then process this refund and return your payment directly to you.

Your payment should be back with you soon, if you have any further queries on payment and refunds you should ask Pixmania Customer Support directly, as they will have access to the live information to be able to assist you.

    Kind regards,
    Penny

    Customer Service

Offcourse i did not get a refund so far :P

Could be that Pixmania are purposefully delaying the refunds to disincentivize people from placing orders for misprices in future which just creates unneccessary workloads for them to fix. It's smart too, it'll be a brave and stupid person who places a misprice order with them again after experiencing this thread.

Nonsense  that would backfire very quick if word gets out they're purposely slow with refunds. I personally won't do business with them again in such circumstance. Plenty of other websites out there capable of getting prices right and giving quick refunds.

I don't think they want to do business with people "in such circumstances" i.e when there is a misprice. They have everyones order history and they know who their important customers are who order under normal non misprice "circumstances"

I've plenty of previous purchases with them. Up to them whether they value custom or not. I've plenty of other choices at the end of the day.

Pixmania already have very bad reputation, I don't think they mind 10 or 20 more unsatisfied customers:

I wouldn't have been inclined to use them a few years ago, but they have actually improved a good deal recently in terms of RMA, customer service etc by all accounts.

In fairness misprices probably do generate alot of extra work for the finance dept so it probably will take time to refund everyone.

This is not true.. refund can be done in 1 or 2 days by their service provider. The problem is they want to do it asap or keep the money longer... people should avoid buying stuff from PIXmania, its always the worst online retailer.

In fairness that was 5 years ago, they have improved a lot, I use them a lot more now than I would have, and they are pretty decent with refunds, warranty replacements and repairs, etc compared to a few years ago.

i never understand why people bid on these when they know its a misprice.

Its actually a good idea by pixmania to hold your money for a bit, it stops you doing it again.
They'd still lose money on each "purchase", having to pay for the payment service.

    This is why:
    http://www.maximumpc.com/article/news/razer_accidentally_leaks_90_percent_promo_code_will_honor_purchases2013

Sometimes a misprice will be honoured. All their delay in refunds will do is put people off from buying from them, this is a chance for them to show they have good customer service. What I am seeing is that if I have an issue with them in the future they will be slow to fix it.

Any experience getting money back through paypal? I've never had to go hunting for my money back before. Good thing I didn't buy 15 things like some people here.

Bought something off pix mania once before, never again.

Hopefully the lesson learnt here will not be forgotten the next time a ridiculous misprice comes around.

A PS4 for €4.99  , I ordered 200. Cancelled, damn! Where's my refund, how dare those b$stards inconvenience me with a slow refund even though i inconvenienced them with an unnecessary order and refund. I'll never buy a misprice PS4 from them again. Next time i'll take my unwanted business elsewhere!

    Indeed.

The level of butthurt on these misprice "bargain" threads never ceases to amaze.

Finally got my refund, I knew full well it was a misprice and won't complain about the delay in giving me a refund. If I needed the money I wouldn't have ordered but it has just showed me that if I ever order from pixmania again and there's a problem with the order it will take a long time and a lot of emails to sort out. That would put me off ordering from them in the future.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,863 ✭✭✭bromley52

Same here. Must have just come through in the past few hours.

A miss price os always worth it IF you can afford to do without the money for a while. The most recent being Boots SAD light for €20 when it should have been €150.

I ordered one and got my refund today. I didnt mind as it was worth a punt to order it in case it was honered, if i got it for that price I would have sold my month old i3 for a lot less so someone else would get a decent bargain.
