I'm organising a trip to Amsterdam for a bunch of students for a few days around 20th Jan. Would it be cheaper to book now or wait until after Christmas? And would it be better to go mid-week or the weekend?

Hostels there, like everywhere, are cheaper during the week, although I dont know about hotels. On weekdays it's fairly quite, so I'd at least recommend getting a friday night in - Thu-Sat perhaps.

Amsterdam is always expensive because it's always in demand. Perhaps things will be pricier now, but only marginally so. Just try and find a deal on the web.
