Metal rods blocking clay pot reducer for stove

I'm installing a Stanley Oisin stove in my sitting room. I have bought a 7.5 inch diameter clay pot reducer which should fit the approx 8 inch existing flue. However there are two metal rods which appear to be holding the flue in place which are reducing the width to a little over 7 inches. Should I get a smaller reducer? I am just worried that this will leave a large gap to be filled with fire cement. Any other way around this that doesn't involve a flue liner?

Nevermind! I was under the impression I couldn't get a smaller width!
