Malahide Road to Donaghmede Walled entrance

    Coming off the Malahide road at the traffic lights/cross roads by the Hilton, taking the road towards Donaghmede/Howth road, why is there what seems to be the entrance to a gates community with walls either side and gates except no closable gates on the actual road because it's a main road?

    It's the entrance to Clarehall, not really sure the purpose of the pillers tbh, always struck me as strange

    I vaguely remember pillers just like that in the fiellds before they built Clare Hall,they were on the trackway that led towards Newgrove House so the current ones are probably an attempt to emulate what used to be there.
